Jasleen Kaur Royal, known by her stage name Jasleen Royal, found her way into the spotlight after qualifying as a semi-finalist on the first season of India's Got Talent in 2009. Born on July 8, 1991 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India, the self-taught singer, songwriter and composer earned acclaim for her ability to play multiple instruments – including the guitar, mouth organ, flute and tambourine – while singing. She released her debut self-composed single, "Panchi Ho Jaava," in 2013, which was based on a poem by the late Shiv Kumar Batalvi and which scooped the award for Best Indie Song at the MTV Video Music Awards India 2013. Jasleen Royal, who sings in Punjabi, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati and English, went on to release a raft of songs both as a singer and as a composer, including a duo of singles as a singer in 2014: "Preet," which appeared in Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama film, Khoobsurat and "Door Ghar Mera hai" from Kitkat. Among her most popular tracks are 2015's "Nachde Ne Saare," 2018's "Laaj Sharam" from Indian Hindi-language buddy comedy film Veere Di Wedding and "Kho Gaye Hum Kahan" from Baar Baar Dekho. In 2020, Jasleen Royal worked as a background score composer on Ghoomketu; an Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film written and directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra.
