Scott Wexton, known professionally as The Voodoo Organist, was born in Detroit, Michigan and began playing the organ at age ten. He co-founded Batterie:Acid in 1992, releasing several cassette tapes before the group disbanded in 1995. Wexton then joined Today Is the Day, recording their self-titled album in 1996. After a near-death experience in 2001 due to Crohn's disease, he launched his solo project The Voodoo Organist, releasing his debut album The Serpent Dance (2006). He continued his solo career with the release of Organ Voodoo in 2014.
