FAUVE ≠ USER GUIDE FAUVE is a french collective, founded in 2010 and based in Paris. The name “FAUVE” comes from the French 1992 movie “Les Nuits Fauves” by film director Cyril Collard. The word was chosen because it reflects FAUVE’s members’ will and aspira- tions towards their project : to create with honesty and never to compromise. The term “collective” is preferred to “group” because FAUVE is made up of lyricists, musicians, filmmakers, producers, pho- tographers, graphists, web designers, fashion designers, etc. The collective has no boundaries, which means that everyone that contributes to the project, be it occasionally or regularly, is considered as being part of FAUVE. This way of functioning justifies the use of the term “CORP”, which is the equivalent of a “crew” or a “clan”. This is why we can refer to both FAUVE and FAUVE CORP. Today, the collec- tive is made up of about 30 people, some of which are occu- pied full- time by the project. FAUVE was built in many different steps : - in 2010, the first circle of long-time friends gathered after work or on weekends to fight and tell off depression, routine and something they call the “Blizzard” which is an image for all negative things in their lives. - during 2011, the bases of FAUVE were consolidated : the switch from singing to speaking, using the “≠” as a visual sym- bol, choosing to act out as a collective and anonymity of the members (the members of FAUVE do not wish to be identifi- able, for discretion reasons and because the project is person- al enough as it is). - in November of 2011, the first song (“ KANÉ”) is released for free on the internet - claiming a hand-crafted and empirical way of operation, FAUVE released without a label its first EP called “BLIZZARD” and created its own structure called FAUVE CORP. - also recorded in autarky, their first album “VIEUX FRÈRES” is a two-part album which counts the psychological and affec- tive evolution of the members of FAUVE since its foundation. - recorded between September and November of 2013 “VIEUX FRÈRES – Partie 1” was released on February 3rd of 2014. It was followed by a tour of about 100 dates in different venues and festivals. - FAUVE has started recording the sequel to the “Partie 1” last September, in order to release it in beginning of 2015. Based on the same system of creation, the second part of the album is also autobiographic: it relates the lives and experiences of the members of FAUVE since the first album, therefore counting their life on the road and new experiences. However, “VIEUX FRÈRES – Partie 2” shows a desire to progress lyrical- ly, instrumentally and production wise. It also reflects a desire to search for new sounds, rhythms and different melodic methods. Like the previous works, the “Partie 2” has also been recorded “at home”, as opposed to in a stu- dio, with the help of the CORP. The fact that parts 1 and 2 of “VIEUX FRÈRES” have been released so close to each other, is a way for the collective to show a continuity in their story-telling and show their need to maintain a important dynamic, and sense of constant move- ment and happening. This necessity to keep things moving is also illustrated by the newly announced 2015 tour, which will start in March of 2015 (Parisian venues) followed by a tour of “NUITS FAUVES” and by festivals this summer... All of this before taking a long break?
