Born on February 22, 1998, in New York City, Blu DeTiger is an American singer-songwriter and bass guitarist. Raised in NoHo, Manhattan, Blu's unique name was suggested by her older brother, and her artistic roots trace back to her Dutch father, a visual artist. She embarked on her musical journey at just 7 years old, picking up the bass guitar inspired by her brother Rex and the rhythms of funk and disco music. Her early exposure to music was nurtured at the School of Rock and further enriched by summers in Ibiza, where she soaked up the sounds of DJs and house music. Blu DeTiger's academic pursuits led her to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, only to drop out shortly after to focus on her music career. She gained early experience touring with the band Kitten and quickly made her mark with the release of her debut single "In My Head" in 2019, produced by The Knocks. The single kickstarted a series of tours with artists like Caroline Polachek and FLETCHER. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she took to TikTok, sharing bass covers of popular songs that quickly went viral. This online success paved the way for her debut EP How Did We Get Here? in 2021, showcasing her talents as both a singer and bassist. The same year, she contributed to the Bleachers' single "Stop Making This Hurt" and was heralded as the "future of bass" by Bass Player magazine. Blu DeTiger's influence extended to collaborations with Fender for a new line of bass guitars and signing with Capitol Records, where she released her debut "Blondes." Her national TV debut came in 2022 on Saturday Night Live playing bass for Bleachers. All I Ever Want Is Everything, her highly anticipated studio debut, arrived in 2024.
