Lauro de Marinis (born on July 11, 1990), who goes by the name Achille Lauro, is an Italian rapper with a Latin influence who began rapping in Rome as a teenager. He released his first album, Achille Idol Immortale in 2014 followed by God Is There (2015), Ragazzi Madre (2016), and the eclectic samba trap cocktail of Pour L'amour (2018). Apart from his studio albums, he released the mixtapes Barabba (2013), Harvard (2013), and the EP Young Crazy in 2015, all of which helped to put him at the forefront of Italian hip-hop. Following an appearance in the mythical Sanremo Song Festival in 2018 with the previously unreleased single “Rolls Royce,” de Marinis released 1969 (2019), an album that found the MC fulfilling his rockstar fantasies by embracing a more mainstream pop-rock sound inspired by local Italian legends Lucio Battisti, Rino Gaetano, and Vasco Rossi. The album quickly climbed to Number 3 on Italy’s FIMI Charts and garnered the attention of Elektra Records, who released 1990 (2020), de Marinis’ sixth full-length and first Number 1 record. Featuring guest appearances by Annalisa, Capo Plaza, and Ghali, the LP largely consisted of reimaginings of synthpop and dance music hits from the 80s and 90s in yet another unpredictable left turn by the Italian maverick. That same year, the singer/rappeur followed with a second covers' album, the jazzy 1920, credited with The Untouchable Band and featuring Gigi D'Alessio, Annalisa, Gemitaiz and Izi. In 2021, Lauro is an pop-rock oriented full-length with horns, strings, electric guitars and synths. A double long-playing vinyl edition with bonus tracks was issued under the title Lauro - Achille Idol Superstar in 2022. After collaborations with Rose Villain, and Salmo with Gemitaiz, Lauro melted rap and rock in Comuni mortali in 2025, featuring singles "Amore disperato" (number 4), "Incoscienti giovani" (number 3), and "Amor" (number 6).
