Paul Kalkbrenner

The German musician Paul Kalkbrenner was born in Leipzig on June 11, 1977. While still at school, Paul Kalkbrenner began DJing in youth clubs together with his friend Sascha Funke. His first EP, entitled Lagersee, was released in 1999 under the pseudonym Paul dB+. The musician's debut album, Superimpose, was released in 2001. With his album Self , Paul Kalkbrenner became particularly well known in the dance scene. In 2008, the musician not only played DJ Ickarus in the film Berlin Calling, but also produced the soundtrack to the film. Paul Kalkbrenner achieved his musical breakthrough with the single "Sky and Sand" from the soundtrack to the film Berlin Calling. The single was created in collaboration with his brother Fritz Kalkbrenner and climbed to number 29 in the German charts. In 2010, the DJ founded his own label under the name Paul Kalkbrenner Musik. The following year, he released his album Icke Wieder, which reached number 2 in the German charts and number 4 in both Austria and Switzerland. Paul Kalkbrenner performed at the Brandenburg Gate in 2014 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. In 2015, the musician began working with Sony Music. His seventh album was released in the summer of the same year and became a number 1 hit in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This was followed in 2018 by the album Parts of Life, which was not quite as successful as its predecessor. After a short creative break, Paul Kalkbrenner returned in October 2025 with the album The Essence. The album reached number 5 in both Germany and Austria and landed at number 6 in Switzerland.
