Hiba Tawaji

Hiba Tawaji Since 2008, Hiba Tawaji, singer, actress & director has firmly established herself in Lebanon and the Arab world as a major artist recognized for her amazing career. Just as comfortable in French & English as in Arabic and passionate about music and the arts since a young age, she has taken singing and music lessons since her childhood. She also did formal training in Cinema. In 2012 she obtained her bachelor degree in performing arts (Acting & Directing) from Saint joseph University in Beirut, and attended musical theatre & acting workshops at New York Film Academy & Stella Adler Studio of acting in New York. She was noticed early on by one of the most influential producers and composers in the Middle East, Oussama Rahbani who took her under his wing and became her producer. They have since collaborated on multiple projects, and the ensuing success in the Middle east propelled her to fame and star status. The Rahbani family, pioneers of “Musicals” in the Middle East for the last 60 years, entrusted Hiba with the leading role in their last 4 musicals, “The Return of the Phoenix” “Sayf 840” “Don Quixote” “Moulouk Al Tawaef”. Hiba released 3 studio albums in Arabic, produced by Oussama Rahbani: “La Bidayi wala Nihayi” (2011), “Ya Habibi” (2014), "Hiba Tawaji 30" (2017), and a Christmas Album in Arabic & English “Hallelujah” (2017), each album a resounding commercial success and acclaimed by the critics. The success of these albums were followed with tours throughout the Arab World, accompanied by Symphonic Orchestras and performed on some of the most prestigious stages with well-crafted and occasionally engaged accompanying videos, some directed by Hiba herself. Eager for new experiences, Hiba took on an enormous gamble by participating in the 4th season of The Voice in France to meet and engage with the French & European public. In the blind auditions, the 4 members of the jury turned around mesmerized by her Franco-Lebanese performance of the Michel Le Grand classic “The Windmills of my Mind” “La bidayi wala nihayi” (adapted by Mansour & Oussama Rahbani). Hiba was given a standing ovation by the jury and throughout the season she was highly praised by the public and media alike considered as one of the most iconic performers ever on the show. Hiba made it to the semi-finals. Since 2016 and still today Hiba has been incarnating «Esmeralda» in the French cult Musical play Notre Dame de Paris. Starting off at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, the adventure has been a huge international success, taking Hiba and the troupe on tour around the world (Turkey, China, Taiwan, Canada, Russia, London, New York etc…) and Hiba has appeared on major French & European TV channels including the most watched international news programs. In 2017, Hiba was the very first female singer to ever perform publicly on stage in Saudi Arabia. Her historical concert was broadcast by international media around the world and is highly symbolic in Hiba’s career. In May 2019, Hiba was chosen by Disney to dub the speaking & singing voice of Jasmine in the French version of the Guy Ritchie blockbuster Aladdin. For many weeks the film stayed at n°1 Box Office in France, and “Parler”, one of the songs performed by Hiba in the film became a hit in France. In June 2019, Hiba was invited by international tenor Andrea Bocelli to perform 4 duets together and one solo performance by Hiba with a symphonic orchestra at the Cedars International Festival in Lebanon.
