Stereophonics are one of the most successful rock bands in Welsh history, with eight Number 1 albums and nearly a dozen Top 10 singles. Formed in 1992 in Cwmaman, Wales, the group debuted with 1997's Word Gets Around, which reached Number 6 in the UK. Establishing themselves as hard-working indie-rockers, the bandmates spent the following decade releasing chart-topping albums like 2001's Just Enough Education to Perform, 2003's You Gotta Go There to Come Back, 2005's Language. Sex. Violence. Other?, and 2007's Pull the Pin. Stereophonics also earned a Number 1 hit in the UK with the anthemic "Dakota," which went double-platinum in the UK. Tragedy struck in 2010, when drummer Stuart Cable was found dead in his home after a drinking binge. With frontman Kelly Jones and bassist Richard Jones serving as the band's only remaining co-founders, Stereophonics continued releasing music throughout the following decade, topping the UK charts with 2015's Keep the Village Alive and 2019's Kind. Despite the success of Kelly Jones' solo album, Don't Let the Devil Take Another Day, which charted at Number 8 in 2020, the band remained active and even returned to Number 1 with their twelfth album, Oochya!, in 2022.
