Poppy

Poppy is the stage name of Moriah Rose Pereira, a genre-spanning musical artist, actress, and YouTube personality. She was born on January 1, 1995, in Boston, Massachusetts, and moved to Nashville at four years old. After moving to Los Angeles in 2013, she built a sizable following on YouTube, where she regularly uploaded videos that showcased her Poppy character. Under the alias "That Poppy," she signed with Island Records in 2015 and released her debut single, "Everybody Wants to Be Poppy," that summer. An EP, Bubblebath, followed in 2016, marking her final release for Island. One year later, she released her full-length debut with Poppy.Computer, an album that also introduced her newly simplified name of "Poppy." Featuring an arty mix of pop hooks and electropop beats, Poppy.Computer was hailed one of the year's best pop releases by Rolling Stone. Am I a Girl? followed in 2018. 2020's I Disagree embraced a harder-hitting blend of heavy metal and industrial rock, resulting in Poppy's first appearance on charts like the Billboard 200 (where she reached number 130) and the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart (where she climbed to Number 1). 2021's Flux featured a similar blend of rock and pop influences, while 2023's Zig focused on more electronic influences. 2024's "V.A.N.," her collaborative single with the metal band Bad Omens, reached number 39 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart in the US, as well as number 25 on the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart. It was followed later that summer by "New Way Out," which debuted at number 35 on the Top 40 Radio Mainstream Rock Songs in America.
