Flora Vida is a LoFi musical project with afro latin influence arranged long distance between 2 very talented musicians, one from Mexico and one from Los Angeles, each of them experts on their own fields.
The band is formed by Raúl Sotomayor and Max Greenhalgh. Raúl is an important figure of the so called “new latin wave”, better known for his latin electronic project @Sotomayor , and Max is a LoFi expert responsible for very successful projects like @URCHN and @Braj Mahal
In this first album they explore the possibilities of blending latin rhythms with LoFi beats, making nostalgic, yet vibrant songs arranged with typical instrumentation of afro latin culture, submerged in the LoFi atmospheres.
The art for this first work explores the idea of Flora in its digital form, so we see 3d leaf shaped objects that through movement reminds us of different types of plants and flowers. Each song has the name of flowers from Latin America, “Copihue” is the national plant of Chile, “Dalia” is from México, “Flor de Maga” from Puerto Rico and “Bayahibe” from the Dominican Republic.
