Thank you guys for all the support over the past years. Let’s continue to keep spreading the love
Kris Lawrence was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
“I grew up with the love for Music. My father enrolled me in Yamaha Music School when I was 4 years old where I studied classical piano till I was 10. I then shifted to playing pop music by ear, using everything I learned at Yamaha. I started taking guitar lessons at age of 13.
“Then I found out I had a voice at the age of 15 and sang at my 1st talent show at St. Genevieve High School where I placed 3rd. After High School, I enrolled at California State University Northridge where I received a scholarship in Music Performance and also studied Music Business. Then I studied studio singing at College of the Canyons while I took a Pro Tools class for recording.
“I got into my first ‘boyband’ called ‘Simplicity’ then got in a different group called ‘First Impression’ (with JayR, Jimmy Muna and Owen Amurao). Times got tough for the group so we decided – JayR & Jimmy went to the Philippines, Owen got married and I started working with 3 jobs…as a Starbucks barista, as a 24-Hour Fitness trainer and as a secretary at the Chamber of Commerce. In the winter of 2004, JayR came back for the holidays and talked me into giving music another shot but this time in the Philippines where he had much success. I quit my jobs, and two weeks later, I left everything in the States to try it out where my ancestors were from – the Philippines.
“So I left for the Philippines with $700 and my talent, hoping for the best. I auditioned for a reality contest called “Search for the Star in A Million” on ABS-CBN (it was like the American Idol of the Philippines at that time). I got in and the contest ran for 8 months. On January 22, 2006, I was declared as the Grand Champion… that night changed my life.”
In 2010, Kris signed an exclusive contract with GMA Network where he was cast with Party Pilipinas. The show was then replaced with Sunday All Stars where Kris remains to be part of the ensemble.
In 2012, Kris became a recording artist of GMA Network’s music label GMA Records where he released his 3rd studio album called “Spread the Love” which has already spawned 2 hit singles for him.
