Fábio José de Melo Silva (April 3, 1971), better known as Padre Fábio de Melo, is a Brazilian Catholic priest, singer, author, and TV host. Throughout his career, he has published several books and recorded over a dozen albums, much of which have obtained gold and platinum certification in his native country. He is also a university professor and taught theology at the Dehonian College of Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo. Born in Formiga in the state of Minas Gerais, Padre Fábio de Melo made his official debut in 1997 with the album De Deus um cantador, followed by Saudades do céu (1999), As Estações da Vida (2001), and Marcas do Eterno (2003), his first release after becoming ordained. In 2008, Vida, his first full-length for secular label Som Livre, obtained diamond status after selling over 1,500,000 copies. Following the massive success of 2009’s Iluminar, Padre Fábio de Melo signed a recording contract with Sony Music and issued the blockbuster albums Estou Aqui (2012), Solo Sagrado (2014), and Deus no Esconderijo do Verso (2015). Clareou, his fifteenth long-player, arrived in 2017 and included the hit “Te Desejo Vida,” which accumulated millions of streams across platforms and broke into the Brazilian Top 100 a few years later.
