The Duprees, an American doo-wop group, were formed in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1962 by high school students Michael Arnone, Joe Santollo, John Salvato, Tom Bialoglow, and lead singer Joey Canzano. The group initially performed under the name the Parisians before signing with Co-Ed Records in 1962. Their breakthrough came with their debut single "You Belong to Me," which reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1962. Following this success, they released several charting singles and albums, including "My Own True Love" (number 13) (1962) and Have You Heard? (1963). The group toured extensively, performing at venues like the Apollo Theatre and with Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars. However, their popularity waned in 1964 due to the British Invasion. In 1970, they released an album under the name The Italian Asphalt & Pavement Company. Notable members included Joey Vann (later known as Joey Canzano), Mike Kelly, and John Salvato. The original lineup was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2006. Key members such as Joseph Santollo (died June 4, 1981) and Joey Vann (died February 28, 1984) passed away due to heart attacks. In the following decades, The Duprees continued to record albums with Tommy Petillo as lead singer, including Duprees Go to the Movies (2008), As Time Goes By (2010), Great Songs of Our Time (2011), and Happy 100th Mr. Sinatra (2016).
