Arch Enemy are a group of heavy metal rockers formed in Sweden in the mid-1990s by former Carcass and Carnage guitarist Michael Amott. They gained attention in Europe and Japan but took off internationally in 2000 when they were joined by the powerful voice of German singer Angela Gossow, formerly of the bands Asmodina and Mistress. They had several successful albums until 2014 when Gossow, who now manages the group, was succeeded by Canadian vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, formerly of The Agonist. Former Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis was added for the 2017 release of 'Will to Power' which went to number three on Billboard's Hard Rock Albums Chart, their biggest hit to date.

The group's debut album 'Black Earth' in 1996 featured the original line-up of Arnott, his younger brother Christopher Arnott from Armageddon, former Carnage singer Johan Liva and drummer Daniel Erlandsson, once of Eucharist. The line-up changed through albums 'Stigmata' (1998) and 'Burning Bridges' (1999) and in 2000 Liva departed to be succeeded by Gossow. More albums followed including 'Rise of the Tyrant' (2007) which reached number ten on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums Chart and 'Khaos Legions' (2011) which went to number seven. More musicians came and went and with vocalist White-Gluz in place, 'War Eternal' (2014) peaked at number five on the Hot Rock Albums Chart. With the 2017 release of the hit album 'Will to Power', their 2018 international tour dates included a Valentine's Day gig at the O2 Academy in Bristol and performances in Japan, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and South Korea with later shows across Europe.
