Biography

August Burns Red are an American metalcore rock band with Christian influences formed in 2003 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania by guitarists John Benjamin 'JB' Brubaker and Brent Rambler, drummer Matt Greiner, singer Jon Hershey, who left in 2004, and bassist Jordan Tuscan, who left in 2006. Vocalist Josh McManness was on board from 2004 to 2006 when he was succeeded by Jake Luhrs and bassist Dustin Davidson also joined in 2006. They have toured around the world and released several albums that topped the Christian and Rock charts and they were nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Metal Performance for 'Identity' (2015) and 'Invisible Enemy' (2017). They released their debut album 'Thrill Seeker' in 2005 and their follow-up 'Messengers' (2007) went to number one on Billboard's Top Christian Albums Chart.

'Constellations' (2009) topped the Christian Chart, reached number two on the Hard Rock Albums Chart, number eight on the Top Rock Albums Chart and number 24 on the Billboard 200. 'Home' (2010) peaked at number ten on the Christian Chart. 'Leveler' (2011) topped the Christian and Hard Rock charts and reached number two on the Rock Chart and number eleven on the 200. 'Sleddin' Hill: A Holiday Album' (2012) went to number eight on the Christian Chart and number 14 on the Hard Rock Chart, while 'Rescue & Restore' (2013) peaked at number two on the Christian and Hard Rock charts, number three on the Rock Chart and number nine on the 200. 'Found in Far Away Places' (2015) topped the Christian, Hard Rock and Rock charts and peaked at number nine on the 200. That was followed by 'Phantom Anthem' (2017) which topped the Christian Chart and EP 'Winter Wilderness' which peaked at number 36.
