Biography

C. C. Catch (born July 31, 1964 in Oss) is a Euro-disco singer from the Netherlands with German roots. Born Caroline Catharina Müller, the artist celebrated her greatest successes in the mid-1980s. Her father still manages her daughter's musical career today. He recognized her potential as a singer at a young age. As a result, she took part in various talent competitions. As a result, she initially ends up in the German girl band Optimal, which is founded by producer Peter Kent. The singer later caught the attention of composer and music producer Dieter Bohlen. Together they developed the stage name C.C. Catch. The debut single "I Can Lose My Heart Tonight" was released in 1985. It immediately made it into the Top 20 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Two more top hits followed at the beginning of 1986 with "'Cause You're Young" and "Strangers by Night". Catch the Catch, the artist's debut album, followed at the end of April 1986. The album climbed to No. 6 in Germany and also reached the Top 10 in Switzerland at No. 8. That same year, the successful single "Heartbreak Hotel" announced the next album. It is released in December and is entitled Welcome to the Heartbreak Hotel. The longplayer reaches number 28 in Germany. Together with Dieter Bohlen, C. C. Catch releases the albums Like a Hurricane (1987) and Big Fun (1988). With songs such as "Heaven and Hell" (1986), "Soul Survivor" (1987) and "Backseat of Your Cadillac" (1988), the singer achieved further top 20 hits in Germany. The collaboration with Dieter Bohlen ends in a dispute over the name. C. C. Catch wins the legal dispute against her former producer and is awarded the name by court order. The artist then moved to England in the early 1990s. There she worked with various producers on new songs. However, the successes of the 1980s failed to materialize. To this day, C. C. Catch still performs on international stages and celebrates the big hits from the 1980s with her fans.
