Mathias Wittekopf (* 1953) studied composition at Folkwang University Essen (Germany) with Wolfgang Hufschmidt. In his work he explores the various aspects of music – it is language, mathematics, mis-en-scène, craft, transcendence and remedy. Choice and use of technique always serve the idea of a musical project; tradition and reinvention are sublated within eachother.
The palette of Mathias Wittekopf's compositions includes songs, solo-pieces, chamber music, sound collages, sounding mobilés, music-sound-audioplays, audiovisual music productions, and orchestral compositions.
