Amado Batista (born 17 February 1951 in Catalão, Goiás, after a childhood on a farm in what is now Davinópolis) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter whose style brought together romantic popular song, viola-rooted phrasing, and the melodic pull of Jovem Guarda. After moving to Goiânia at 14, he worked a series of small jobs, bought a record shop, became a label representative, and entered recording with a double single in 1975. His first major breakthrough came with “Desisto” in 1976, and his first LP, Canta o Amor (1977), opened a long run of releases that continued with albums such as Sementes de Amor, O Amor Não É Só de Rosas, Sol Vermelho, Vitamina e Cura, and Hospício. By the early 1990s, records including Eu Sou Seu Fã and Um Pedaço de Mim had added some of his signature songs, among them “Princesa,” “Eu Sou Seu Fã,” “Vida Cor de Rosa,” and “Ah! Se Eu Pudesse.” He kept recording steadily through later titles such as Amado Batista Acústico, O Negócio da China, Amado Batista - 40 Anos, Amado Batista - 44 Anos, and Em Casa. In 2023 he began rolling out the Perdoa project in EP installments, then followed in 2024 with Perdoa and Pétala, the latter featuring Bella Alencar on “Como Antigamente.” In 2026 he marked 50 years of career with the live album Amado Batista 50 Anos - Lado A (Ao Vivo) and a tour presented under the banner 50 Anos.
