CORPUS DELICTI
Formed in Nice in 1992 around Sébastien (vocals), Franck (guitar), Chrys (bass) and Roma (drums), Corpus Delicti's melodic, hard-hitting post-punk rock immediately made an impact, with their debut album 'Twilight' (1993) becoming a benchmark for the genre. Fusing the best of post-punk with remarkable energy, creativity and melody, the band made a name for themselves abroad with a US tour and concerts in Europe. After two more beautiful albums, they broke up in 1997.
But since then, thanks to a loyal community of fans connected all over the world, the cult around Corpus Delicti has continued to grow. A comprehensive biography ("La Déliquescence des ombres" by Tony Leduc-Gugnalons) was even published by Camion Blanc in 2011.
In 2019, the American label Cleopatra signed the band for a series of reissues, and Corpus Delicti is now being rediscovered by a younger audience.
They are regularly ranked in the Top gothic rock worldwide; the website Sens Critique even lists them as one of the 35 must-haves of the genre, alongside the likes of Cure, Bauhaus and Joy Division, stating that "their second album is a masterpiece of the genre". The Italian music magazine Ascension refers to them as "an incredible mix between Bowie, Bauhaus and Christian Death". In 2025, the prestigious UK magazine Uncut published a special issue on the 200 essential gothic rock albums, and they were the only French band to feature alongside Kas Product, with the album ‘Sylphes’. !
23 years after their split, the original quartet resumed rehearsals with the aim of returning to the stage. Unfortunately, the pandemic and Roma's health problems (osteoarthritis of the hands) decided otherwise and the band had to find a new drummer.
Corpus Delicti finally came back to life live, with a first sold-out concert on 7 May 2022 at the MJC Picaud in Cannes, bringing together fans from Mexico, Peru, England, Germany, Spain, Italy...
This memorable date kicked off an impressive series of sold-out concerts in front of conquered audiences: London, Rome, Madrid, Athens, Paris …Not forgetting a Mexican tour in April 2023, during which the band received an incredible reception, culminating in a sold-out concert in Mexico City in front of 1,200 people, after a 3-hour signing session and hundreds of fans queuing in the street!
This was followed by major summer festivals in Germany, Portugal and Belgium, in front of thousands of people. Since the reunion, the number of listens on streaming platforms has exceeded 2 millions a year!
28 years after the release of their last album in 1995, they are back with a new single, ‘Chaos’.The quartet show with this track that they have lost none of their punchy rock and melodic sense and the song becomes an instant favourite.
In 2024, the band once again had the opportunity to play in some incredible places, including a memorable date in Manchester Cathedral in February, as well as a tour of Latin America with a first visit to Peru, Costa Rica, Colombia and a return to Mexico City. The Sold Out gig at the Trabendo in Paris will also go down as one of the highlights of the year.
At the end of the year, the band captured these fabulous concerts on record, with the release of a double live album recorded in Mexico City in 2023 and entitled ‘From Dust To Light’. And all this just before the release of a brand new single, ‘A Fairy Lie’, a powerful, haunting ballad that has been extremely well received.
Today, Corpus Delicti returns with Liminal, a new record that is both dark and luminous, vibrant and urgent, set for release 28th,November 2025. The band is back with music that remains faithful to their roots while embracing a modern edge.
The first single, Room 36, reveals a haunting and powerful atmosphere, elevated by a collaboration with contemporary artist Jean-Luc Verna, whose artwork graces the album cover. Verna also appears in the music video, creating a visual mise en abyme that blends contemporary art with a dark, avant-garde aesthetic.
Following a triumphant reunion, Liminal confirms that Corpus Delicti is more than ever a key force on the international dark post-punk scene.
