Iuna is the black river that flows through the waters of an afro-indigenous Brazil. From the cradle of the arts, when the child began his artistic career inspired by his elders Maria and Ciro Falcão. In this scenario, he grew up involved in the Maranhão percussive universe from which his ethno-musical study comes. A multi-artist, at the age of 17, he moved to Salvador to study Visual Arts at the Federal University of Bahia. From then on, the crossings of this experience generate a rapprochement with music and in 2022 Iuna Falcão releases her first eponymous EP, produced by Lucas Cirillo and well received by music critics. In early 2023, he releases a single with Jonathan Ferr and Melly, Deprecated and has his debut album, Trance, scheduled for the second half. Iuna Falcão produces contemporary black music that proposes sounds from these musical diasporic encounters held in ancestral territories.
In 2023 Iuna Falcão takes a deeper musical dive into her Maranhão roots and brings to the album Trance the rhythms and sounds of her childhood in São Luís, such as Tambor de Criola, Bumba Meu Boi, Cacuriá, Caixas do Divino, Tambor de Mina and others, with a super highlighted drums influenced by the Hip Hop movement of the 1990s and the use of programming.
