Belgian house and trance DJ/producer Reginald “Regi” Penxten (born on March 4th, 1976 in Hasselt, Limburg) has helmed various musical outfits since emerging on the European dance music scene in the late 1990s. Debuting aged eighteen with a flurry of genre-bending trance EPs on independent label Dance Opera and Illusion, he later formed the semi-acoustic band Milk Inc, whose 1997 breakthrough single “La Vache” reached #3 in the French charts and the top 40 in the UK, France and Sweden. Enjoying exponential growth at the turn of the millennium and securing four Ultratop chart-toppers with the group, he also teamed up with fellow producer Wout van Dessel for the side project 2 In Da Bush, and went on to produce a wealth of hits for van Dessel’s band, Sylver. By 2005, alongside his various other pursuits, Penxten had begun to focus efforts on his solo career, launching the popular mix series Regi in the Mix and releasing a successful single, “No Music”, the same year. His hit-laden 2007 debut album, REGIstrated, reached #2 on the Ultratop charts, later obtaining gold certification, and its 2010 sequel matched this achievement, placing first in the Flanders charts. In 2012, he teamed up with superstar DJs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike for the non-album single “Momentum” and Stereo Palma and Craig David for the poppy “Our Love”, before finding himself atop the charts once more with his third LP, 2015’s Voices. Continuing to enjoy strong sales and streams in his home country, he landed three national #1 singles with his 2020 album Vergeet De Tijd, including the Jake Reese collaborations “Ellie” and “Kom wat dichterbij”.
