Grupo Aztteca is a Regional Mexican band from Durango, formed in 2022 and made up of José Ángel Bernadac Escobedo on accordion and lead vocals, Gustavo Ángel Villegas Martínez on second vocals, Pedro Quiroga Ortega on bajo quinto, Jesús Valenzuela Ortiz on electric bass, and Yobani Agustín Valenzuela Ortiz on drums. Associated with the Durango corrido scene, the group’s catalog is built around corridos, norteño-style arrangements, live recordings, and collaborations with other acts from the contemporary música mexicana circuit. Their release activity accelerated in 2024 with La Magia Sigue, a 21-track album that included songs such as “Tranquilón,” “No Te Vayas,” “El Fili,” “Mi Borrachera,” and “Pura Gente de Olegario.” That same year, Grupo Aztteca followed with the live album En Vivo, Vol. 1, La Magia Sigue Vol. 2, and Puras de Tucanes, Vol. 1, while also issuing singles such as “El Azteca de Durango,” “El Corrido de Olegario,” “Los Empecherados del Catrín,” and “El 3” with Los Canelos de Durango. In 2025, the band released Durango Sigue Rifando and Deluxe, alongside collaborations with Banda Matona de Durango, Los Titanes de Durango, Dinámicos Jrs, Grupo Revolucionarios, Los Juniors de Mexicali, and El Fantasma. Their live single “La Cita Fresita (En Vivo)” became their most visible track, followed by a 2026 studio version with Arley Pérez. Grupo Aztteca continued in 2026 with “Ni Falta Que Hace,” “El Bandido,” “Agua y Aceite,” “El De Las Artilladas 2.0” with Arley Pérez, and Puras Pa’ Tomar Vol. 2 with El Fantasma.
