ATARAXIA are three Italian artists who explore and create music, poetry and visual art in balance between avant-garde and tradition and who dedicated their lives to art. We are travelling musicians inspired by our geographical and inner voyages in places still owning the charge of centuries. We have grown-up in mediaeval burgs and we feel to be like crossroads among the Mediterranean and Celtic cultures, a land of struggle and meeting. We define us as 'craftsmen of the sound' because we create an unusual mix of sacred and profane, ethereal and experimental, contemporary and early music. We made researches into the European legends crossing the Greek and Latin myths. Contemplation, dreamlike experiences, twilight elegiac atmospheres, hypnotic and meditative states, ritual movements float in the mysterious garden of Psyche and Desire where new textures of notes meet the embracing echo of classic sounds, our peculiarity is mingling acoustic instruments with contemporary ones. We paint soundscapes that open passages to otherworldly dimensions and allow deep emotional exchanges. Our lyrics have been written in many ancient and contemporary languages. We like to bring to surface the hidden treasures that each language owns. ATARAXIA is like a thiasus of ancient Greece, we work with the arts, with sounds, with shapes, with colors, energies and scents guided by Beauty which is the ultimate goal of our creation. We walk along a path that has its origins in ancient times and guides us through dimensional gaps. The Ancient Spirits are still speaking.
The new album “Centaurea” will be out in 2024 and it will be inspired by a magical island that is still experiencing the Golden Age.
