Since its inception in 1985, Pentaèdre has been dedicated to exploring a diverse, original, and often lesser-known chamber music repertoire. As passionate chamber musicians, its members delve into classical wind quintet repertoire as well as orchestral works and transcriptions. Over the past decade, the ensemble has established collaborations with renowned artists such as Christoph Prégardien and Rufus Muller (tenors), Russell Braun and Phillip Addis (baritones), Karina Gauvin (soprano), Naida Cole, David Jalbert, and Iwan Llewelyn-Jones (piano), while also partnering with chamber music ensembles such as the Penderecki String Quartet and the Quatuor Arthur-Leblanc. The ensemble has performed across Canada, in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. Their accomplishments include seven albums, including a chamber version of Normand Forget's adaptation of Schubert's Winterreise, which won the Opus Award for Best Record – Classical, Romantic, Post-Romantic, Impressionist Music, and Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring/Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition was a finalist at the ADISQ Gala in 2014. These recognitions add to the excellent reviews of their original shows Love is a Silent Opera and A Chair in Love, as well as the Opus Award for Best Concert of the Year in Contemporary, Electroacoustic Music received in 2002. ICI Musique/Radio-Canada and CBC regularly broadcast their seasonal concerts.
