Rehema Chalamila, professionally known as Ray C, is a celebrated Tanzanian singer-songwriter and a pioneering figure in Bongo Flava music. Born on May 15, 1982, in Iringa, Tanzania, Ray C rose to fame with her debut album Mapenzi Yangu in 2003, becoming one of East Africa’s most iconic voices.
She began her career as a radio presenter at Clouds FM in Dar es Salaam before transitioning fully into music. Her sound blends Afro-pop, R&B, Swahili melodies, and traditional Tanzanian vibes, earning her fans across the globe.
Ray C has toured internationally, performing in countries including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Mozambique, China, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, the U.S., Australia, Thailand, India, South Africa, and Nigeria. She currently resides in France, continuing her musical journey and expanding her international presence.
