Born Martine Nault on July 22, 1962 in Montreal (Canada), Martine St-Clair is a pop singer from Quebec. In 1979-1980, she won the first edition of the Cégeps en Spectacle competition. In 1980, she won the role of Cristal in the first Quebec version of the musical Starmania. The following year, she recorded a duet with Gilbert Bécaud, the song " L'Amour est roi ", which spent two weeks at number one in the Quebec charts. That same year, she received the Félix award for best newcomer of the year at the ADISQ gala. In 1982, she released her first album, Coeur Ordinateur , with the song " Un Homme sentimental ", which spent a week at number one. Martine St-Clair released her second album in 1984, Il Y A de l'Amour Dans l'Air . Four songs from this opus topped the Quebec radio charts: the title track stayed there for 9 weeks, " On va s'aimer " stayed there for 6 weeks, " Je l'aime " stayed there for 8 weeks and " Simplement " stayed there for 2 weeks. She released her third album in 1986, which was certified gold (with over 50,000 albums sold) on the day of its launch, and quickly went double platinum with sales of over 200,000 copies. The title track, " Ce soir l'amour est dans tes yeux ", and the songs " Quand je tombe en amour " and " Heureuse sans être amoureuse " all hit number one on Quebec radio. At the 1986 ADISQ gala, she won four Félix awards. In addition to her solo career, she became a backing singer for The Box in 1987. That same year, she recorded a duet with Claude Dubois entitled " Tu peux pas ". In 1988, Martine St-Clair released her fourth opus, in which five songs reached the Quebec radio charts. In 1988 and 1989, she reprised the role of Cristal in the European version of Starmania . In spring 1990, she scored a hit with her new album Caribou , featuring the songs " Désir = danger ", " Je ne sais plus comment je m'appelle ", " Lavez, lavez " and " Seulement pour toujours". In 1993, she launched a duet with Gino Vannelli called " L'Amour est loi ". This was followed in 1996 by the album Un Long chemin, and in 2001 by the opus Un Bonheur fou . In 2003, she starred in the series Hommes En Quarantaine, and hosted a program on the history of the 1981s on Quebec's MusiMax channel. The following year, in November, she released a new album entitled Tout Ce Que J'Ai . In 2011, she revisits the great songs of the cinema with Martine Fait Son Cinéma . In 2022, she releases two live opuses of her greatest hits.
