Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on February 17, 1979, musician Bear McCreary is one of the most prolific and successful soundtrack composers of his generation. He studied under iconic composer Elmer Bernstein and attended USC Thornton School of Music, graduating from Screen Scoring in 2002. Bear McCreary specializes in music for television, motion pictures, and video games. He is known for focusing on fantasy, science fiction, and adventure projects, although he has worked outside those genres as well. He first came to prominence with his work on the Battlestar Galactica TV series from 2004 to 2010. He also provided music for TV series such as Human Target, Black Sails, Outlander, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the groundbreaking cable series The Walking Dead. Bear McCreary branched out into films, providing music for movies such as My Baby’s Daddy (2004), Johnson Family Vacation (2004), Rest Stop: Don’t Look Back (2008), Step Up 3D (2010), Happy Death Day (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), and Happy Death Day 2U (2019), and others. His video game work includes Dark Void (2010), Defiance (2013), God of War (2018), and Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021).
