The first German singer to win the Eurovision Song Contest, Nicole was born Nicole Hohloch in Saarbrücken on October 25, 1964. Discovered by producer Robert Jung at the Schwäbisch Hall Song Festival in 1980, she launched her singing career with the theme song for the Japanese series Captain Harlock and signed to Jupiter Records, for whom she racked up a string of hits, starting with "Flieg nicht so hoch, mein kleiner Freund", which reached No. 2 in 1981. The following year, aged just seventeen, she became the first German singer to win the Eurovision Song Contest with " Ein bißchen Fried en", which reached No. 1 in Germany, as did the album of the same name. In the UK, she is also the first German singer to reach number one with the English version of the song, "A Little Peace". Married to Winnifried Siebert in 1984, she took her husband's name and continued to sing as Nicole, racking up hits over the next two decades. In 1991, Nicole won the Golden Schlagerband as winner of the 1st Schlager '91 German Song Festival in Berlin, and in 1992 received the Echo Pop Award. While she continued to record regularly throughout the 2000s, she toured accompanied only by choirs to promote her 2008 album Mitten ins Herz, then embarked on a tour of church venues the following year. After leaving her original fold to sign with Sony Music, she joined the Telamo label in 2013 with the album Alles nur für Dich. Meanwhile, the retrospective double CD and DVD 30 Jahre mit Leib und Seele was released in 2010. In 2019, she collaborates with author Heinz Rudolf Kunze and various composers, including Jens Carstens, on the album 50 ist das neue 25. In 2020, the singer interrupts her career to treat a cancerous tumor in her right breast. She returned in 2022 with the album Ich bin zurück, followed by a tour and a live album. In 2024 she released her 30th studio album, Carpe Diem.
