Since the early 2000s, Admiral T has unquestionably established himself as France's leading dancehall artist. Born in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, on March 29 1981, Christy Campbell has a vocal quality worthy of the best Jamaican voices, and the care he takes with his music is also one of the keys to his success. Equally at home in dancehall and lovers rock, he doesn't hesitate to blend Jamaican rhythms with zouk, soca and rap. A star in the French West Indies since Mozaïk Kréyòl in 2003, he finally made a name for himself in mainland France with Toucher l'Horizon, which reached No. 9 in the charts, helped by the track "Les Mains en l'air", a duet with Diam's. Admiral T regularly sold out concert halls and performed in Africa for the first time at the end of 2008. In 2010, Instinct Admiral amply confirms his talent and popularity. On Face B in 2012, Gyptian and J-Mi Sissoko add their own personal touches. The No. 36 album was followed two years later by I Am Christy Campbell, which saw the dancehall singer move into zouk and gwoka. After a duet with Daddy Yod for an anti-violence campaign in 2016 ("Stoppons la violence"), Admiral T returned the following year with the album Totem, featuring collaborations with Kalash, D. Camp and Djanah, after having played the AccorHotels Arena (ex-Palais Omnisports de Bercy). He continues to broaden his palette with the albums Mozaïka and Caribbean Monster (2019), the latter featuring contributions from Sizzla, Walshy Fire, Demarco, Princess Lover, Krys and Saïk. In 2021, 40 Degrés again navigates between genres, from dancehall to zouk. Several singles and collaborations follow, including "Intouchable" with Phyllisia Ross and "Gwada Gta" in 2023, "Dream Big" and "On ti rhum " in 2024 and "Terre de champions" in 2025.
