In more than one sense Max Meser is just like a delightful vintage 45 rpm vinyl single. In all he does, this young man has two sides. Literally that means that there’s an A-side and there’s B-side. Debut single Weak For Love - out on PIAS – has a lovely flipside: What Is The Reason. It exudes classic sixties pop, but is also incredibly grounded in our time. The Kinks and The Who are sharing the shelves in his record collection with today’s pop heroes such as Jake Bugg and Miles Kane.
In October, Max will promote his debut single with a Dutch club tour, supporting local singer/songwriter Douwe Bob, with whom he has already toured before. He has busy times ahead, as virtually simultaneously Meser and his band will be participating in travelling festival the Popronde. The single launch will be taking place on a very special location, in the Casa Rosso nightclub in Amsterdam, that is.
At present Meser and his band are in the middle of the recordings of their debut album. Just like with Weak For Love, Matthijs van Duijvenbode is credited as producer. The likely release date is spring 2016. The wait has been made more bearable by the current tour.
