Spraggy, also known as Spraggie, born Nevinson Cuffy on the 18th of November 1962, in Point-Michel, on the English-speaking Island of Dominica (Commonwealth of Dominica), was a carefree and turbulent child but came to realize his life would be dedicated to music and that he would have a message to convey. By the age of 20 he was known locally as "The man with the golden voice", people were amazed by his powerful & charismatic singing. He became sought after by producers and musicians wanting to work with Spraggy.
Under the nickname Spraggy, which follows him since his teenage years and becomes his pseudonym, Nevinson released his first album "BLESSINGS FROM ABOVE" (Kufe Records) followed soon afterwards by "BAD BOYS" He was working with the best Reggae, Jazz & Blues musicians of Dominica which confirmed his status as a gifted Reggae singer. Word spread of his talent, which led him to move to Paris in 2000 until 2008 where he settled in Bordeaux France until present day.
In 2005 Spraggy recorded the "RUB A DUB" single (Sowan Records, Naive) as part of a compilation project "REGGAE X-CLUSIVE” and performed at the ELYSEE MONTMARTRE (Paris), celebrating the release of his new single, for the Reggae X-Clusive concert. He also performed a duet with french top reggae singer Pierpoljak on the song,"HOT & SEXY".
In 2010, Spraggy released his first French Roots Reggae Album "SUNSHINE COUNTRY" (2009 Believe Digital, Auto Production). In 2011 he composed with FELDUB (Producer, DJ, & co-founder of the Bordeaux Label Banzai Lab). Their Opus was titled "FELDUB MEETS SPRAGGY-A SO IT GO" (Banzai Lab, Believe Digital). In 2012 & 2014 after Spraggy had recorded with Dubveda, for LaboxProd, it evolved an obvious artistic collaboration with Nagual X, where he featured on Albums "Illegal Dubplates" &" Green Warriors"(Laboxprod, Auto Production).
After having toured a few years in Europe and played on events like Solidays Festival, Live Planet Bob Marley Tribute, in Paris, Reggae Sun Ska Festival in south of France, as well as venues less bigger or charity concerts…Spraggy has been kept busy writing lyrics for his catalogue of new songs that he has now finished registering, and that are currently being mixed and mastered, ready to be released.
This “special 2020” year has given Spraggy the opportunity to release 4 singles.
“Loving Me, Loving you, featuring Ras Jumbo” (out 26 of April 2020, Auto production, Believe Digital). This song was recorded, pre mixed and pre mastered in 2008 in Paris at Sowan Studio by Charles Laube, and finished in Bordeaux-France in March 2020 at Shaman Studio by Leroy Chambers. Spraggy has now settled permanently on the international scene, to the top of the current reggae singers with his magic vocal signature that leaves no one indifferent. He has reinforced his artistic versatility and his musical esthetic of sound mergers. From reggae roots to electro Dub, Rnb, Funk and also Soul or Nu roots, …Nothing stops him in the exploration of new rhythms that he mixes perfectly with his warm voice, his harmonic chant with soft melodies.
