Protextor (fka p-teK) is an American hip hop and visual artist known for his mix of technical rap, soulful performance, funk-forward production, and complex lyrics. As a solo MC and member of SC Death Squad, he has opened for Run the Jewels, Aesop Rock, Geto Boys, Kool Keith, Open Mike Eagle, and many more, and is a fest veteran of Sound on Sound Fest, Art Outside, 35-Denton, and Fun Fun Fun Fest.
Most recently, he released the critically-acclaimed album American Neon with Grammy-winning producer Brother Bear, featuring cupcakKe and Melat, with cover art by Matt Furie. He's also a cofounder of both the multiple-award-winning hip hop open mic Austin Mic Exchange (which retired after a 5 year run in 2017) and Weird City Hip Hop Festival, which was Austin's first-ever hip hop fest. Right now, Protextor is working on an LP with producer Bird Peterson as well as a sophomore album for his project with with Brother Bear.
