MKSTN (em-kay-es-tee-en) is a hidden gem in Toronto’s electronic music scene. Having been raised in the heart of downtown, his music reflects the diversity of the city and its many different sounds, subcultures, and standpoints.
Though multifarious in texture, “hazy nostalgia” is the best, most all-encompassing way to describe MKSTN’s sound. Chillwave, Dream Pop, and Lo-fi House influences all come together in his sentimental yet euphoric melodies ranging from dark to up-lifting. Because of this, his work shines as standalone instrumentals, but outdoes itself when created in collaboration with other artists.
When MKSTN isn’t creating or performing, he is transcending the boundaries of space and time.
