In an abandoned steel mill on the shores of the 3 rivers the blast furnace still burns with doc rock at the helm Metal Shop 101 rises from the ashes forging out the best in the Pittsburgh rock & metal scene Doc Rock to the heavy metal scene in Pittsburgh, presents a picture that is far from the truth: arms sleeved with tattoos, hair in a mullet aka Joe Dirt, blue jeans, and a metal band t-shirt. But under that tough, bad boy exterior lives a man with a huge heart and a talent for bringing out the best in the music world.Metal Shop 101 started in a small, local bar called the Rock-A-Bye Café nestled in the South Hills of Pittsburgh about twenty years ago as a regular DJ gig. Doctor Rock & Roll worked as a regular DJ at the Rock-A-Bye as well as doing private parties, weddings, and special event requests from area band members. After a while, local bands started coming in (to the Rock-A-Bye) after practice to have a drink, hang out, and listen to tunes. Doctor Rock & Roll became Doc Rock. The bands started bringing in their own music to be played at the café during Doc’s show and came up with the name: Metal Shop 101. It was like going to school; they were able to hear what other bands were doing and get their own music introduced.The bar has since changed ownership and is no longer a rock bar, but Doc Rock has managed to keep the metal fire burning in the blast furnace. After a brief retirement, Doc Rock has taken Metal Shop 101 to a new level by launching it on an Internet-based radio station, and keeping it dedicated to local musicians to let them get their music heard worldwide. Metal Shop 101 will stay dedicated to the local and unsigned bands giving the bands the air play they so much deserve! Formed in 1976, the band conceived their moniker only to later learn of a band from New York City already known as The Godz. An "alleged" monetary settlement allowed them to keep their name. The Godz did not yet have a recording contract when they hit the road with Kiss alongside Cheap Trick in 1977. The following year, the band released its first, eponymous, album on Millennium Records. In addition to being on the Kiss Love Gun Tour, they played on what was billed the 'Heaven and Hell' Tour by embarking on the road with Angel.

Dani Nolden, one of the most unique and strong female voices ever heard, they combine influences of Hard Rock, Thrash and Heavy Metal and are known for their strong hooks, heavy guitars and high energy live show.During the year of 2006, Shadowside supported Helloween in Brazil and was awarded best band, album, lead singer and national show by several media professionals such as Airton Diniz, Editor in Chief of Roadie Crew Magazine. They were also featured on radio playlists worldwide. However it was in 2007 that Shadowside really went international. In July 2007, they won the "AirPlay Direct All Things Digital Hard Rock / Heavy Metal", chosen between over 1,000 bands worldwide.[4] With the exposition received from the contest they signed a worldwide deal for the worldwide re-release of the debut album.[5] Since then, they have been on the road frequently, having toured Spain and USA several times as well as their homecountry Brazil. Other artists they have performed with are Kittie, Divine Heresy, Daath, Temple of Brutality (featuring David Ellefson of Megadeth) and Sepultura.
