This sequel compilation is brimming with reimagined gay anthems by industry legends such as Donna Summer, ABBA, Kylie Minogue (who, incidentally, is riding high with a chart-topping hit as we speak), Adele, Pet Shop Boys, Ultra Nate, Robyn, Cher, Madonna, Whitney Houston, and countless more beloved divas. The roster of tracks in this collection doesn't warrant a detailed introduction — each song and artist holds a distinctive place in the heart of the LGBTQ+ community and has contributed significantly to its vibrant culture. With resources permitting, Party Favorz has ambitious plans in the pipeline — a Gay Pride circuit and anthems set slated for launch next week. Creating these music sets can often run up a bill north of $100. The challenge lies in the fact that the songs earmarked for these special circuit compilations are not readily available on the DJ service we rely on. Most of these need to be procured from alternate online platforms like Beatport or directly from the DJ's Bandcamp page (though several are free on Soundcloud). Nevertheless, we are committed to making it happen and will do our utmost to deliver a fresh set for our devoted circuit boys. Remember to stay proud and keep the celebration going. Let the anthems of unity, love, and acceptance echo in every corner of the world. Until the next time...ENJOY! The transition between "When Love Takes Over (David Michael vs. Almighty 2K20 Pride Remix)" by Kelly Rowland and "Vogue (Division 4 Extended Mix)" by Madonna has been corrected. This compilation celebrates iconic modern Gay Pride anthems and their importance to the LGBTQ+ community. The 2023 selection revitalizes legendary anthems from the past half-century, presenting them in an updated format for today's dancefloors. We bring you the most emblematic, compelling songs that echo the universal messages of love, unity, resilience, and defiance within our community. Kicking off this collection, we've selected the ever-resilient anthem, "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. It's featured in an exquisite, previously unexplored version - Eric Kupper's House remix, offering a gentle start before escalating into high-energy beats. The list also highlights Whitney Houston's timeless hit, "I Will Always Love You" in a Julian Marsh remix, and Diana Ross' empowering track "I'm Coming Out," remixed by Barry Harris. Each song carries significant meaning for our community, often becoming soundtracks to personal stories of love, acceptance, and identity. Other standouts include Lizzo's "Everybody's Gay" and Miley Cyrus' "Flowers," showing the continual evolution of queer music. Toni Braxton's heart-wrenching "Un-Break My Heart" and CeCe Peniston's classic "Finally," both in revamped remixes, add to the rich tapestry of our anthems. To ensure these powerful messages resonate with listeners, we've chosen remixes that retain the essence of each anthem while injecting a modern energy, making these tunes relatable to the current LGBTQ+ generation. The curation of these modern Gay Pride anthems of 2023 was a challenging task due to the abundance of choices, but we are confident we've selected the most impactful tracks that resonate globally. Our goal was to craft a collection that honors the past while embracing the future, mirroring the continual progress within our community. So, turn up the volume, let the music inspire you, and remember: these songs aren't just anthems; they're a testament to our journey, resilience, and pride. Stay tuned for the release of volume 2 of the 2023 Gay Anthems For A New Generation collection, filled with more modern Gay Pride anthems to soundtrack your celebrations. To bring a contemporary twist, I delved into the past 10 years and mixed in some newer gay anthems, blending them with reworked versions of beloved gay anthem classics. The result is a collection that feels fresh and relevant for today's dancefloors. I couldn't resist throwing in a couple of recent tech-house tracks that sample the iconic gay anthems "The Underground" by Celeda and "Work" by Masters At Work. These near 20-year-old floor-scorchers have been given new life and will ignite any party. Every aspect of this series has been meticulously crafted, from scouring through decades of modernized classics to curating outstanding tracks that truly shine. When it comes to comprehensive compilations, you won't find anything like this on Spotify or Apple Music. We've left no stone unturned in our quest to deliver the ultimate collection of gay anthems. Others may try to imitate, but they can't touch what we've achieved. However, there will always be those who attempt to pass off our work as their own. But let's not dwell on that. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of Party Favorz. Your support has been invaluable as I dedicated countless hours to create these compilations that celebrate our life, love, and history. As Gay Pride approaches, I wish everyone a joyous celebration. And to all the allies out there who have never experienced a Pride parade, I urge you to attend and make a day out of it. Trust me, you won't regret it. As promised, Party Favorz will be back next week with our regularly scheduled programming. Until then, ENJOY! Get ready to turn up the heat because Party Favorz is back with the much-anticipated volume 2 of the 2022 edition of Gay Anthems For A New Generation featuring the biggest modern queer anthems. And let me tell you, this set is absolutely sizzling! We've packed this compilation with all the iconic gay anthems you'd expect from a series of this magnitude. But that's not all—we've also unearthed some hidden gems from the past 12 years that deserve their time in the spotlight. I've personally combed through this release with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a seamless and buttery-smooth listening experience. Now, here's some exciting news: when the 3rd volume drops next week, you'll find that we've left no stone unturned. This time capsule of music celebrates both our vibrant past and our vibrant present, capturing every aspect of gay life. But wait, there's more! I want to introduce an additional sub-category to the gay anthem list—one that we didn't cover in the previous post: teenage angst. While it's true that growing up gay has become more accepting and easier in many places, there are still regions where repression persists. We all recall those high school years when we couldn't come out, fearing the consequences of being ostracized or bullied. Perhaps you even had a crush on your straight best friend. This set includes a few songs that touch on the themes of teenage longing, anger, and frustration. For me personally, after binge-watching the latest season of "Stranger Things" on Netflix and hearing Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" on repeat, it got me reflecting on the music that brought me solace during those times. It felt like Kate Bush belonged to me and spoke directly to my soul. Later, Sinead O'Connor's "The Lion and the Cobra" took that place in my heart. But even before that, there was the debut album from the Pretenders. In the new millennium, Emo music became the anthem for angst-ridden teens. While anyone can relate to the isolation and depression that comes with this stage of life, being gay added an extra layer of social anxiety and the longing for acceptance from peers. So, I want to dedicate this set to all those kids out there, assuring them that it does get better. It may not be perfect, but it definitely gets much, much better. I'm aware that gay pride events are already in full swing, so I'll be dropping the third and final volume of modern queer anthems around Thursday to keep the party going strong. Unfortunately, there won't be an official Gay Pride release this year for the circuit boys, but don't worry—I've got you covered. The pride-themed tracks will be included in part 1 of ...

We've delved deep into the realm of gay anthems, exploring what makes a song truly special to the LGBT+ community. Brace yourself as we embark on a journey through the generations, from GenX to GenZ, to uncover the essence of these empowering tunes. You see, not every song cherished by our community was originally penned as a gay anthem. Yet, for various reasons, these songs have found a special place in our hearts. The core principles that define a gay anthem remain intact: First, we have those powerhouse divas, whose big voices resonate with our spirits. Then, there are the heartfelt ballads that encapsulate the triumphs and struggles of love, inspiring us to persevere. In the spirit of carefree liberation, we celebrate songs that encourage us to throw our worries aside. And let's not forget the anthems that fuel our hard-won self-esteem and embrace our unabashed sexuality. We seek acceptance and find solace in the torch songs of the world-weary, all while believing that love conquers all and refusing to apologize for who we are. Even songs that may seem trivial in subject matter can find their way onto our cherished list because they simply bring us joy. Additionally, we recognize the contributions of gay artists who create music that transcends boundaries and speaks to audiences of all orientations. As we carefully curated this three-volume set, we made sure to include timeless classics that have resonated across multiple generations. We've also included a selection of recent favorites from the past 12 years, ensuring a well-rounded and unexpected musical experience. While we celebrate the strides we've made toward equality, we must acknowledge that our work is far from over. There are challenges on the horizon, threatening to undermine the progress we've fought so hard for in the past two decades. Personally, this weighs heavily on my mind as my partner Rick and I contemplate whether we should continue residing in this country. Although I am physically disabled and limited in my ability to directly effect change, I am committed to documenting the unfolding realities. In the final volume of the Gay Anthems For A New Generation series, I will delve deeper into these concerns. But for now, let's set aside the Debbie Downer vibes and focus on celebrating. So, regardless of your generation, I invite each and every one of you to crank up the volume, transport yourselves back to the magical kingdom of gay anthems reworked for today's generation , and revel in the electrifying beats of this first volume. Stay tuned for more exciting editions to come. Until then...

With this fifth volume, we complete our exploration of the most iconic gay anthems that have soundtracked the LGBTQ+ community's history and celebrations. The journey of curating and mixing this extensive series has been challenging and rewarding, with decisions on which songs to feature proving particularly painstaking. However, any tunes you feel have been overlooked will likely find a place in the upcoming Ultimate Gay Anthems For A New Generation series. This compilation, planned for release next week, will showcase fresh remixes of our beloved gay anthems, tracing the evolution of these songs since the inception of the original series. This current concluding volume reflects a unique musical epoch from the 90s through the first 15 years of the new millennium. It includes an array of updated classics from this era, along with some extraordinary gems from the 80s. Special acknowledgement goes to the DJs who have enriched our lives with their musical craftsmanship, skillfully reinterpreting artists' tracks to create new gay anthems. Over the course of this five-set series, we have celebrated many of the most influential names in our Legacy series. This tribute recognizes the contributions of both living and departed members of this esteemed community. Renowned DJs such as Hex Hector, Junior Vasquez, Ralphi Rosario, Tony Moran, Freemasons, Almighty, 7th Heaven, DJ Barry Harris, Thunderpuss, Victor Calderone, Toy Armada & DJ Grind, Wayne G, and Jonathan Peters are at the heart of the gay anthems presented here. Their transformative music has given us immeasurable joy, for which we are eternally grateful. While the Ultimate Gay Anthems & PRIDE Classics series is comprehensive and extensive, it does not discount or ignore other artists, DJs, and allies in the LGBTQ+ community. The worthiness of all contributors to this rich tapestry of music is acknowledged, and any unintentional omissions are deeply regretted. Stay tuned for more exceptional gay anthems next week. In this volume, I decided to focus on a big room circuit without going overboard, making it a bit easier to curate. You'll find plenty of gay anthems and high-quality classic gay pride cuts that are sure to delight. As I mentioned before, this series is the closest thing you'll get to the best of the Diva Hall of Fame, which many people have requested from me. What's truly great about it is that I've included all those leading ladies whom I never got around to inducting or felt unsure about including. Artists like Jeanie Tracy, Kimberly Davis, Anastacia, Suzanne Palmer (who truly deserves recognition), Paula Cole, Shania Twain, Heather Small (of M People), Judy Cheeks, Alison Limerick, Lara Fabian, Nelly Furtado, Debby Holiday, Amber, Goldfrapp, Sarah Atereth, Deborah Cooper, Beth Sacks, Pepper MaShay, Andra Day, Latanza Waters, CeCe Peniston, Sabrina Johnston, Shawn Christoper, Soraya Vivian (Degrees of Motion), Thelma Houston, and many more have touched our little gay hearts at different moments in our drama-filled lives. It's truly a shame that I can't personally acknowledge each and every one of them. Consider this series as their honorary induction and a heartfelt acknowledgment of what they've meant to so many of us. We extend our deepest gratitude from the bottom of our little queer hearts. We have one more set to go, which will feature the remaining Hi NRG and house music tracks, before we dive into the annual Gay Anthems For A New Generation. To be honest, I had a vision for this 'ultimate' gay anthems series, but it wasn't until I started putting it together that I realized the challenges ahead. While I aim to stick with the original versions in most cases, I've found that opting for more current remixes of the same track helps maintain a tight pace and overall flow. You'll see this even more in volume 3, dropping later this week. Don't worry though, these updated remixes stay true to the essence of the originals. Given the diverse styles featured in this compilation, I discovered that key mixing works for some songs, but it becomes necessary to change directions to avoid sticking with the same style for too long. This is where matching the percussive elements of each song comes into play, even when the styles differ. There's no software for that; it's a skill I learned a long time ago when I needed to shift gears or inject new energy into the mix. I also found myself having to re-edit some overly ambitious remixes that had extended drops leading nowhere. It only happened twice in this set, but you can expect more in the upcoming volumes. However, I decided to leave Toni Braxton's 'Un-break My Heart' as is this time. It's the first Hex Hector remix that propelled him to stardom (even if he worked on it with Soul Solution), but it's clear he hadn't fully developed his drop technique yet. Editing this song is a breeze, but I thought it was time to let it play in all its full glory since it's not overly long. If any of you have been following the Roe v Wade issue currently making waves in the United States, you'll know how passionate I get about political matters. Ever since the leaked draft opinion by SCOTUS surfaced before its official release in late June, I've been deeply concerned—and you should be too. The repercussions of what's to come affect everyone, not just women. I'll have more to say about it, likely at the end of all these Pride mixes, because I want to provide a clear and precise understanding of the fallout from this decision and emphasize how seriously we should all be taking it. But for now, my main aim is for everyone to embrace their freedom, be proud of who they are, and find happiness. There's a lot of fantastic stuff heading your way. Until next time...ENJOY! We're super excited to share these amazing sets with you, as they are a massive update to the original Gay Pride Classics sets that were initially released in 2014. We called them "It Get's Better," "Love Sensation," "True Colors," "Together Again," and "We Are Family." With this new series, we're primarily focusing on gay anthems released from the 90s through the first half of the millennium. We believe this era is the golden age of club music, with an abundance of incredible tracks that made it challenging to choose just one for inclusion. However, we also recognize the importance of newer anthems that have become staples in the Gay Pride arsenal. So fear not, we have a special release called "Ultimate Gay Anthems For A New Generation" coming later this month, which will feature the majority of those newer tracks. Since the original release, there has been a flood of remixes for instantly recognizable classics. Some of the original versions didn't quite fit with the overall flow of this release, so we opted for the updated versions. It's important to note that this series is not the same as the original releases. Our main contributors, Barry Harris and Dirty Disco have done an exceptional job preserving and modernizing many of our favorite gay anthems. Speaking of contributors, you'll find an impressive lineup of legends on this set. The likes of Hex Hector, Junior Vasquez, Ralphi Rosario, Freemasons, Victor Calderone, Wayne G, Almighty, and 7th Heaven have all lent their incredible talents to these tracks. Over the years, we've received numerous requests for a "best of the Diva Hall of Fame" series. While we currently have no plans to create such a series (as it would be somewhat redundant), we encourage you to consider these final Gay Anthem releases as exactly that. The tracklist alone reads like a who's who of our favorite divas who've been inducted into the Diva Hall of Fame, including those one or two-hit wonders who never received the recognition they deserved. You'll also notice something special in this initial tracklist – a fantastic remix of "Constant Craving" by one of our personal favorites, K.D. Lang. When we originally inducted her into the Diva Hall of Fame, the remix we included was not up to par. We apologize for that. However, the fabulous and legendary Tracy Young came to the rescue. She created an incredible remix of "Constant Craving" in late 2021, after the release of our Diva Series. We may update that series later this year to include Trac...

Rihanna's "We Found Love" inspires us to hold onto hope, even in the darkest times. These tracks embody the essence of modern gay anthems by offering solace, joy, and an avenue for self-expression to the LGBTQ+ community. Classics like Ultra Naté's "Free," and Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," given a fresh spin, are timeless anthems that uplift the spirit, emboldening individuals to embrace their identity fearlessly. They encapsulate the struggles, triumphs, and resilience of the gay community, serving as powerful rallying cries at Pride parades and celebrations. Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," remixed by Liam Pfeifer, echoes the message of acceptance and self-love, reinforcing its status as a modern gay anthem. Similarly, Robyn's "Dancing On My Own," Lil Nas X's "Montero Call Me By Your Name," and Madonna's "Vogue," each with their unique remixes, represent the community's journey towards self-empowerment, inclusivity, and liberation. Several tracks on the list, like "YMCA" by Village People, "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge, and "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, have been pillars of the gay community for decades. These songs have evolved into modern gay anthems, celebrating the diversity and unity of the community. Moreover, new additions to the gay anthems pantheon, like Dua Lipa's "Levitating," Miley Cyrus' "Midnight Sky," and Ava Max's "My Head & My Heart," incorporate contemporary sounds and themes that resonate with younger LGBTQ+ generations. They reinforce the inclusivity of the gay community, ensuring its musical heritage remains fresh and relevant. Songs like "Don't Leave Me This Way" by Thelma Houston and "It's A Sin" by Years & Years address the complexities and challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community, offering solace and solidarity. Their inclusion in this list ensures these narratives remain central to the discourse of gay anthems. In conclusion, the collection of Modern Gay Anthems for 2021 by Party Favorz is a testament to the evolution of gay anthems. From nostalgic classics reimagined to new anthems with their infectious beats and powerful lyrics, they underline the resilience, diversity, and unity of the LGBTQ+ community. Music continues to play an instrumental role in this journey towards acceptance and equality, with each song offering an echo of the community's past, a snapshot of its present, and a glimpse of its promising future. This set is flush with revamped gay anthems and modern House Music tracks, perfect for any chill Sunday afternoon vibe or moments demanding less intensity than our typical anthems. Our early release anticipates the upcoming "Gay Anthems For a New Generation 2021," set to enliven your playlists hopefully by this Sunday. This also helps to set the celebratory mood ahead of the official U.S. Pride dates and international festivities in the following week. Gay Anthems Reimagined Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," re-envisioned by Dirty Disco's Rainbow Remix, remains a modern-day gay anthem, promoting self-acceptance and community pride. The remix adds a fresh vibe, giving it a contemporary dance floor-ready feel. Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," especially in the 2020 Eric Kupper Remix, still packs an emotional punch, emphasizing self-empowerment as she forcefully turns her back on a past lover. It's a universal tale that resonates strongly with the LGBT community and beyond. Madonna's "Vogue," now as the Division 4 Extended Mix, offers a rich cultural narrative, essentially serving as an anthem for expression and identity. The song, with its invigorating remix, still urges everyone to strike a pose and embrace who they are. Diana Ross' "Love Hangover" in the Dirty Disco Classic Tribute Remix remains a cornerstone of both romance and heartache, serving as a reminder that love is a journey, often with highs and lows. Heather Small's "Moving On Up," reimagined by Division 4 & Matt Consola, offers a sense of empowerment and triumph, capturing the essence of breaking free from societal chains. Ultra Nate's "Free," in the Jet Boot Jack 2019 Remix, continues to be an anthem for liberation and self-expression, encapsulating the core message of being free to live one's life openly. Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" as remixed by Ralphi Rosario, still resonates with the euphoric sense of authentic self-expression and happiness. Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me This Way," turned anew by Jet Boot Jack, expresses the universal anguish of being left by someone you love, a feeling many in the community know all too well. Erasure's "A Little Respect," transformed by Dirty Disco’s Mainroom Remix, encapsulates the longing for acceptance and respect, something continually sought by the LGBTQ+ community. The song "Proud" by Heather Small, modified into a Dirty Disco Classic House Remix, serves as an evergreen encouragement for being proud of who you are and your accomplishments.

Party Favorz wants to break it down so "others" can have a better understanding as to why certain songs attract gay folk like flies to honey. By quoting the 2002 book "Queer," Wikipedia gets it mostly right but goes off the rails in other areas: The lyrics of gay anthems are often marked by themes of perseverance, inner strength, acceptance, pride, and unity. Ten elements were identified by the editors of the 2002 book Queer, which they claim describe themes common to many gay anthems: "big-voiced divas; themes of overcoming hardship in love; "you are not alone;" themes of throwing your cares away (to party); hard-won self-esteem; unashamed sexuality; the search for acceptance; torch songs for the world-weary; the theme of love conquers all; and of making no apologies for who you are." -Gay anthem from Wikipedia They go on to list a variety of songs that they think are written down in the gay annals of history with many of them being so off the mark that it leaves us scratching our heads in bewilderment. Party Favorz even gets a mention (without mentioning us) when they list "Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", and Ariana Grande's "Break Free" (both of which are included here) considered gay anthems for the new generation. Sound familiar? That's only a tacit acknowledgment of Party Favorz's contribution to the LGBTQ+ community but we'll take it. THEMES OF A GAY ANTHEM The book "Queer" provides the definitive list of the types of songs that meet the criteria for a gay anthem: First and foremost "Big-voiced divas" are a given. The women with massive vocal pipes are typically the first ones inducted into our big gay tent (see Whitney Houston, Ariana Grande, Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Sia, and P!nk). Even then, they may just be a persona, an image, or a style that reflects our personal choices but may not necessarily have the best vocals (see Madonna, Britney Spears, and Kylie Minogue) Other times they may be a combination of both (see Cher and Lady Gaga). Overcoming hardship and love You are not alone Throw your cares away Hard-won self-esteem Celebrating unashamed sexuality Search for acceptance Torch song for the world weary Love conquers all No apologies As you can see — the qualifications are endless but never without reason. All these themes are explored one way or another in this 5-hour set, which features modern-day gay anthems as well as past anthems reworked for today's dance floors. For the uninitiated, this annual series features some of the most iconic gay anthems from decades past that has been reworked for today's club music scene. From Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" to Gloria Gaynor's eponymous 1979 disco empowerment hit "I Will Survive," and everything in between — these songs are not only instantly recognizable but stand the test of time. I managed to throw in some personal favorite house classics that have been reworked as well as current hits to keep the whole set fresh and timely. When I started this series in 2016, I wasn't sure how it was going to be received. After all, the originals (which can all be found in various compilations under the Gay Anthems sub-heading) are what folks fondly remember. However, Party Favorz demographics range from 18 - 60 years old (if you can believe it). Taking something old and making it new again is where it's at and the reception to this series has been nothing short of phenomenal. I've had to reshuffle my release schedule because I'm still waiting on a hot-off-the-presses release from one of our favorite production duos. This is a song that's never been done before but everybody knows oh so well. You can expect a couple of Pride Legacy series to drop sometime next week once I get the track in my greasy palms. I want to dedicate this set to Bishop Tobin @ThomasJTobin1,  Franklin Graham @Franklin_Graham, Pastor Greg Locke @pastorlocke, and Father Kevin M. Cusick @MCITLFrAphorism who if it weren't for their tireless dedication to suppressing my life and voice while covering up the abuses I suffered as an altar boy — I wouldn't be here today denouncing the closeted, self-hating assholes they are.  Until next week...ENJOY! Party Favorz has quite possibly the most extensive series of mixes dating back to the 70s till the present day of any podcast out there and I'm always surprised at how well various sets perform. This series has outperformed even my wildest expectations. I've been hitting on these classics of varying genres and different time periods for quite some time, each new rollout is like a new discovery for many of you. I cannot recommend enough that if you're new to Party Favorz that you spend some time exploring what this site has to offer beyond just going chronologically through the posts. The site is fairly easy to navigate through the categories and sub-categories. There are over 800 podcasts in total that are still available on the site (not through the streaming services). I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what's underneath the hood once you spend some time looking around. That being said, volume 4 continues with the re-energized mixes from the 80s and 90s gay anthem Hi-NRG Classics. You'll notice I went with the Hannah Jones version of "I Am What I Am" as the Gloria Gaynor version felt dated. Jennifer Holliday's "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" re-sung the vocals for the Almighty mix but it still stands up quite well. There are three different versions by Almighty, but I went with the one that could easily be dropped in the middle of the set. The fabulous Katherine Ellis, who has been MIA for a while is making a comeback relatively soon (yes, I've already got the promos), delivers a searing rendition of the Gwen Guthrie 80s classic "Ain't Nothin Going On but the Rent," turning it into an explosive dance floor stomper with 7th Heaven's signature all over it. You'll also notice that the 1981 Lime NRG classic is a rare re-worked version that is one of the earliest Almighty mixes they ever laid down. It has the signature early 90's house sound that updated the original for that period. Frankly, I think it still holds together quite nicely. I want to thank Marshall for helping me track this down as the quality of the version I had was sub-par. I also went with Sarah Washington's searing rendition of "I Will Always Love You," which was released well before Clive Davis commissioned Hex Hector to rework Whitney's massive hit several years after its original release. Sarah went on to have a massive hit with the Hex Hector produced "Heaven" by the end of the decade that's a staple in DJ circles to this day. Finally, I close out the set with the early 80's re-work of the Ashford & Simpson penned tune "Ain't No Mountain High Enough,

If it's bitterly cold, snowing, or iced-over where you're at never fear as Party Favorz is here to put a little sunshine in your day with Hi-NRG Gay Anthems volume 3! This set pulls from both decades with a few caveats. The late Viola Wills got started in the clubs in the early 80s with hits like "Gonna Get Along Without You Now" and "If You Could Read My Mind" (a remake of the Gordon Lightfoot #1 early 70s classic) is featured here with her rendition of the 1930's torch classic "Stormy Weather" turning it into a hi-energy floor stomper that pulled all the gay boys to the floor. As for "If You Could Read My Mind," the dance version initially brought to life for the dance floor by Viola was re-worked by Amber, Jocelyn Enriquez, and Ultra Naté aka Stars On 54 and produced by Hex Hector for the movie Studio 54. I used the version by the fabulous Soraya Vivian who under the Fierce Angel imprint has created some fantastic classic remakes with her soaring vocals. Nicki French took over for Bonnie Tyler with her rendition of "Total Eclipse of the Heart," which was a massive dance hit in the early 90s and given the Almighty treatment. Equally, Martha Wash re-sung "It's Raining Men" sans the late Izora Rhodes. Frankly, there are a plethora of 80s dance classics in this set that should be instantly recognizable even to the average listener. However, one song that I have to mention is the feminist anthem "I've Never Been To Me" by Charlene, which was oddly written by two men (go figure). Charlene was the only white artist signed to Motown Records, and the song was initially released in 1977 and 1978 barely cracking the Top 100. It was re-released again in 1982 where it topped at #3 on the charts for several weeks and was the only hit Charlene had recorded but had a lasting impact. The cheesy song gained popularity again when it was included in the 1994 movie "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" and has been a drag queen favorite ever since. Charlene re-sung the vocals but used the altered lyrical section of the song (I spent my life exploring the subtle whoring that cost too much to be free) for the dance version. The truth is, I could go on and on about the origins of various songs and the singers behind them, but my guess is you want to get to the music. In the end, it's all about the memories and lots of fun! I'll be back on Wednesday to close out this series with volume 4. Until then...ENJOY! Party Favorz is delivering volume 2 of Hi-NRG Gay Anthems where I step up the beats and deliver the fun! I've taken some liberty in the track selection like "Touch Me In the Morning" by Diana Ross was reworked in the early millennium but was originally re-recorded in 1985 by Lydia Steinman. "Your Song" by Elton John (which closes this set out) was never re-recorded (to my knowledge) but re-done by Almighty with Elton re-singing the vocals in the early millennium as well. The same goes with Olivia Newton-John's "I Honestly Love You." Regardless, these tracks fit in nicely with the overall theme and feel of these sets as if they were true to the period. The intro to this set was the hardest thing I've encountered so far. Using the original version of Divine's "Shoot Your Shot" and mashing with Male 2 Male's "Male Stripper" wasn't working so I had to drop it into another software to get it to pan out. If the beats seem slightly off, it's because the original mixes are not up to par with today's technology. Regardless, I thought it came out well. I'm guessing there are about two more of these sets, which I'll post later this next week. That should be followed by a couple of Diva Hall of Fame re-entries that need to be refreshed before getting back into new Dance-Club, Circuit Tribal House, Funky House, and Underground House set later this month. Until then...ENJOY! Album: Hi-NRG Gay Anthems volume 2Genre: Hi-NRG, Dance, Gay AnthemsYear: 2019Total Time: 01:56:03 1. Divine - Shoot Your Shot (XL Ultratraxx Maxi Mix) 2. Party Favorz is back with a multi-volume set of Hi-NRG gay anthems from the 80s and 90s that have been reinvigorated for today's dance floors. The original concept was to create a Hi-NRG compilation of dance tracks from the 1980s. After pouring through most of them, I concluded that a lot of these just didn't meet the requirements for today's music delivery methods (i.e., the sound quality was thin). Sure they sounded great on the dancefloor back in the day, but I just wasn't feeling it. Not to mention, the amount of work involved in trying to bring these up to speed was not a task I was up to at the moment. Fortunately, the much beloved Almighty Records has taken a good chunk of these classics and reworked them for our modern-day listening apparatus. Combine that with 7th Heaven, Soulshaker, Bassmonkeys, and Wideboys amongst many others and this entire set started pulling together nicely. I did have to extend the track selection to the 1990s as well to make it work but what the hell...why not? It just adds to the overall fun of these sets. Yes, I  could have waited until June to release these but the future of Party Favorz is uncertain, so why wait? Additionally, there is some crossover from previous efforts but that wasn't preventable if I truly wanted to represent the genre. Besides, there is a slew of gems that have never made it onto any of my previous compilations, so I think it'll be worth it. So get ready to pump, pump, PUMP IT UP! This series is bound to get you energized! Until the next time...ENJOY! Album: Hi-NRG Gay Anthems volume 1Genre: Hi-NRG, Dance, Gay AnthemsYear: 2019Total Time: 02:30:09 1. For the uninitiated, this series began in 2016 and features re-worked classics for today's dancefloors as well as modern-day queer anthems. The 2017 edition of GAFANG has consistently remained in the Top 20 downloads since its release, surpassing even my wildest expectations. It's now 2018 and somehow, someway, I've managed to take it to the next level. A HUGE thanks goes out to Division 4 (a.k.a. Leo Frappier) for making a lot of this possible. His modernized reworks of classics for gay fanboys are just what the doctored ordered. While I couldn't use everything I wanted, his contribution to this set really sets the tone. You should check out his SoundCloud page and follow him as he sometimes makes these tracks available free to download. His staggering amount of releases are definitely worth your time. And so it goes, another year of Party Favorz celebrating the month of June, also known as Pride Month. In all likelihood, this will be my last. Save a couple of new Diva Hall of Fame entries later this month, I plan on taking some time off. I'm heading out to Dallas today for a long overdue visit with my family and to celebrate my father's life. In the interim, you folks have more than enough to carry you through the month. Frankly, I'm exhausted so some time off from the site will be welcome. I want to wish everyone a very happy Pride! I'll be back soon enough. Until then...ENJOY! Once again, this set consists of pride anthems/classics that have been updated for today's dance floors. Sprinkled in are some brand-spanking new tracks like the wonderfully uplifting Together & Always by Steven Redant + Joe Gauthreaux. If you have noticed any trends among these three sets, it's that I used the White Party releases and Queer As Folk soundtracks as inspiration to create them. I went back and scrolled through the various track lists for these awesome compilations and then went and pulled or sought out updated versions of those songs. Since I've already created a plethora of sets with the original classic gay anthems, I found this to be a good way to draw from the best of both worlds. Giving folks familiar songs with refreshed versions of the originals. I still have the Gay Anthems For a New Generation coming out on Friday. Since the original release two years ago these sets have garnered some of the most sought-after and downloaded sets I've ever put together. Instead of the standard circuit of many of my releases, these focus on more electro and modern-day house remixes with a gay twist. Their popularity cannot be understated and this year's entry will likely be the biggest. At least I'm banking on it. I need to give a HUGE shout out to Andy M., Ludovic D., Caye South M., Glenn A., Anthony S., and Paul B. for their more than generous contributions to my ongoing efforts! Donations are always welcome and definitely appreciated. One last thought: With the recent passing of legislation by the EU pertaining to user privacy rights, Party Favorz has updated our own privacy policy. Please take the time to read it as I think you will find it enlightening. That's all I got for the moment. Until Frigay...ENJOY! Other than that, I don't really have that much to offer because these sets speak for themselves. It appears to be a crappy Memorial Day weekend with heavy storms rolling in for this week. Much of it has already been hitting us in bands for the past few days. I hope the weather is more cooperative where you're at. Who wants a three or four day weekend holiday when the weather sucks? From track list, editing to tweaking and remastering, I've been working on this bad boy off and on in-between all the other shit going on in my life. I can honestly say, that I am very proud of the final product. The whole purpose of this set is to showcase classic gay anthems in a way that better reflects what's going on in house music at the moment. Some songs were only released several years back, while others may be 20 years old. However, the renditions offered here reflect just how enduring and well-written these songs were and that they still hold up; even today. Between these songs, I offered current and not so current tracks to ensure relevance of the moment. Last year's Gay Anthems For a New Generation 2016, was the first such set of modernized classics I was trying out. Who knew it would go on to be one of the biggest sets I've ever released (and there have been many). Party Favorz started out as a play on words in 1999. I'm originally from Texas that has blue laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol past midnight. While the bars would stay open until 2am, folks would be gearing up for after-hour parties. It was those parties I'd show up at and people would ask if I had brought any party favors. I was known for selling my mixes on CD, so naturally that's what they were referencing and the name stuck. In my lifetime, I've witnessed major changes in the fight for LGBT rights and the cover art I've created for a variety of Gay Pride events over the years reflect those struggles. My greatest work was created for Pride 2008. Sadly, I've lost the hi-resolution artwork and only have the lower quality versions. Folks, we are at a turning point in our history. While we've won major victories for marriage equality, the ability to openly serve in the military, fast-tracking of life saving drugs for people with AIDS and so on...we are about to lose them again. I won't go into all the unseemly behavior of the current administration because all you have to do is read any credible news outlet or watch TV about the daily ramblings of our mentally challenged president and the blatant corruption that surrounds his administration to get a clue as to how bad things are and will be if this continues. One thing is for certain, if the great Orange Miser gets impeached, that leaves us with someone even worse. Don't be fooled by his good looks and quiet, seemingly thoughtful demeanor; Mike Pence is someone you need to be very afraid of. Read about what he did while governor of Indiana; his fundamental views about things we now take for granted. ...

I finally got my grubby hands on the official remixes of Free, Gay & Happy by the Coming Out Crew featuring the fabulous Sabrina Johnston. I had always used a remake by Verde but nothing is better than the real deal. The release has the original mixes and some newer updated versions but I went with my favorite by T-empo. My goal in bringing back these classics, even after having revisited them years ago was to present them in a newer light, remastered and in some cases with newer modern versions of the originals. I was also able to drop several goodies that had never made it on any of my previous gay anthem sets. While these five sets are far from exhaustive, they are definitely a good representation of what a true Gay Anthem represents. When you go back and dig through everything I've posted (and there is a lot) and then combine it with Year In Dance (which goes as far back as 1996) or several of the sets from the House Classics, you'll find decades and decades of classic house, circuit, and trance that lifted us up, made us happy, angry and sad but mostly unified us as a community. I'll likely have more to say on that matter in my final thoughts on all the things the LGBTQ community has achieved, where we're heading, and the certain struggles that lie ahead. For now, I want everyone to let down your guard, show us your True Colors and dance like today is your last day on earth! ENJOY! I'm back with volume 4 of Gay Pride Anthems for 2017 titled A Little Respect. As usual, this set is packed with massive Gay Anthems in their original glory days format plus several alternate mixes and a couple that has never been included in previous efforts. I will say that Faith Evans's "Mesmerized" is the ONLY reason I'm still here today doing what I do. Between 2004 and 2005, I was putting in 60-70 hour work weeks for AT&T and was not feeling the dance music landscape. At the time, dance music had taken a dark turn and even shiny happy songs were being turned into these doom-and-gloom 10-minute epics of despair that just weren't my style. It wasn't until the end of 2005 that a friend and I went out to the bars when Rick had gone back to Texas for his niece's Quinceañera. When I heard the remix of Mesmerized and subsequently Loving You More, I was so blown away I had to do the one thing you just don't do. That is, pester the DJ about the title, artist, and remixer of the songs. Freemasons were making a name for themselves right about the time Moto Blanco was doing the same. Suddenly, I got that itch because house music was evolving into something that made me happy, and I wanted to dance. I've gone back and revisited those lost years (2004 and 2005) with the Year In Dance and have more appreciation for the work of Gabriel & Dresden, Scumfrog, Chus & Ceballo, etc. than I did at the time. No doubt, there are some classic gems these guys produced at the time and it's worth revisiting those years. Looking back it wasn't all doom and gloom; it just felt that way. With all that said, I'm proud to present to you the next installment of the 2017 Gay Pride Anthems. I've got one to go in this classic series set for tomorrow and then we cap it all off with the AMAZING set of anthems geared toward millennials Until then...ENJOY! Over the Rainbow | Gay Pride 2017 Volume 3
Keeping the heat up, Party Favorz is sending up the 3rd volume of gay pride anthems, Over the Rainbow. Once again, it's packed with crowd-pleasing favorites by Whitney Houston, Rozalla, Chaka Khan & Martha Wash (to name a few). While all the sets are finished, I still need to go back and brush up on volumes 4 and 5 to ensure sound quality and check for errors and energy levels. After that, I'll post the remaining three sets on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday respectively. Then, I plan on taking the rest of the month off. I need a break. More on that later. For now, put on your daisy dukes and dance your ass off! Until the next time...ENJOY! I went out for my usual morning Starbucks. Once I got back, the sun was shining so bright, I couldn't see the lines on my car screen to back into the garage so I relied on the painted lines to guide me in. Little did I realize that those lines are not lined up properly and I ended up smashing my passenger-side mirror with a built-in camera. It snaps back into place but I can't get the casing on. I'll have to take it in on Monday and no telling what that will cost to get it fixed but I digress because we're continuing our Pride celebration and I'm not gonna let my shit spoil anyone's fun. Born This Way contains a slew of Gay Pride favorites with a couple of newer versions to keep the set fresh. However, look closely at track number '12'. This ain't the full suite that Barry Harris claimed he'd get around to in an interview long ago but it's pretty damn close. Party Favorz has made no secret about my unabashed love for all things DJ Meme, so much so that I featured him in one of my earliest DJ/Artist Tribute sets, which he thanked me for. He updates Donna Summer's classic MacArthur Park for today's disco-crazed resurgence while managing to keep the original intact (save Heaven Knows, which he edited out). This is truly a stunning update that's bound to tickle the toes of any Donna Summer fan. While the remaining sets are finished, I tend to go through them one last time before release to ensure quality in all aspects. After all; if this is to be the last gay word for Party Favorz Pride, then I want to leave a lasting impression. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. I've got three more of these coming out next week and then I'll cap it all off with the Gay Anthems for a New Generation 2017, which I just wrapped up yesterday, and boy oh boy is it tasty. You know how I roll around here. I always save the best and most anticipated for last. Until next time...ENJOY! Welcome to the 2017 Gay Pride celebration! I tend to think of Pride much like Christmas in that it only comes once a year.

It's intended to be a bit reflective with a lot of bouncy fun you'd expect from a Pride celebration. This set draws from future house hits of the past few years (What I Did For Love, Go All Night, I Got U, Real Love, Hustlin') to current hits like the fabulously funky Air Miles by Me & My Toothbrush and the disco hit taken from the HBO series Vinyl, Kill the Lights. Of course, the big winners here are modern-day bootleg re-edits of Gloria Gaynor's definitive anthem I Will Survive, Diana Ross' proclamation anthem I'm Coming Out to Madonna's everyday celebratory Holiday. Sandwich these with plain ole fun modern twists of Shannon's Let the Music Play, Vicetone's Hawt Stuff (think Donna Summer), 2 B Real (think Cheryl Lynn), Daft Punk's Around the World, and George Michael's Fast Love and you got yourself one big-ass Pride throw-down. I've got more that didn't make this year's cut so I thought I'd save them for 2017, which is Party Favorz's 10 year anniversary and likely our last but that's for a later discussion. For now, we don't let the shit news of the week keep us down. Instead, we get LOUDER and PROUDER making our voices heard! IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE with some modern gay pride anthems for a new generation of revelers! Happy Pride Everybody! After all, we have a republican congress that denies science, stifles any and all conversation about restricting what types of guns that can be purchased legally all under a misunderstood interpretation of the 2nd Amendment; and openly promote hate, racism, and homophobia under the guise of their pretend god. We have a leading presidential candidate who has seized on all of the above to promote his candidacy for President while the members of his own party run as far away as they can only after it becomes clear many of them will lose their seat because of their affiliation with this ass-clown. (hint: you create it, you own it). I stand by my original statement in the previous post but will expand it to include ALL religions, not just Islam. Was the slaughter of 49 and injury of 53 innocent people the result of self-loathing homophobia? terrorism? mental illness? I'd say all of the above, but the underlying foundation that propels individuals to harm others is almost ALWAYS religion. In this case, Islam. Whether peaceful as many say or not (I have my serious doubts) the purpose of religion is to control the masses and impose a very narrow and strict belief set of questionable principles on people's lives; principles that the majority of the enforcers don't live by themselves. To be clear, I'm a pretty open person and accept most people; even Republicans and/or those that seek spiritual solace through religion. What I won't tolerate are folks imposing those views or passing judgment on me. Those that are vocally hostile and judgmental towards others because of some perceived lack of morality are 10 out of 10 times shining a light on their own private bad behavior. From meth-smoking religious leaders hooking up with male prostitutes to "supposed" experts testifying in court against gay parents adopting children and later caught soliciting men on gay escort apps; recent history alone is replete with examples of the outlandish hypocrisy of the morally righteous. I'm off my soapbox. We have one more set of mixes to go and the final one is nothing short of AWESOME. Until the next time ...ENJOY!
