Love this message today & it comes from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) where part of it reminds us that:  “ … The words are simple. You are enough. There is no perfection. You were made to be you, as you are, on purpose. It is no mistake that you are this person, in this place, at this time. You are enough & your enough is what changes the world.”  He goes on to share some more thoughts that remind us we don’t have to be anything that the world view says we have to be. Yes we are enough, but I like these few words he put into it “...You can keep growing… “ and I think we should do just that.  Keep building yourself up with the things that light your soul on fire!!  Keep investing in yourself so you can try and be your best that you are possible at being! Life can be magical when you go out and try to be your best every single day!  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.

Found an amazing reminder for all of us and it’s connected with something that hopefully we see everyday.  It’s taking advice from a tree and this great reminder comes to us from Gratitude HQ (@gratefuledu64) and they introduce these thoughts with this one:  “We draw wisdom from all different sources — but maybe we should look more closely at nature for inspiration and guidance on living…”  I think they are right on target with this one. So many things we can pick up and learn from nature, especially trees. Sit back and listen to this list and I hope you will see how easy it is and  I know that I need to do these more often, especially reminded by all the trees I see every single day!  I’ve been seeing a lot of posts lately of working hard to live our best lives & this one helps us to do just that!

More learning as I always remember that success leaves clues. This guy is one who shares these clues every single day in many different ways.  Ben Newman has his Burn Podcast - this episode was pure gold.  This episode titled “A Strong Lesson in Taking Ownership”, has so many nuggets in it, I’ve already listened to it twice. I will listen to it again soon.  Here is the link for his Mental Toughness Academy - check it out.  The one key idea I’m connecting here for you is that when things don’t go our way, (and that happens a lot in life) a great mindset (reset) is to say “So what? Now what?”  So what is the way to say, hey… it doesn’t matter that whatever happens, Now what am I going to do about it? How will I respond? Take a listen to the link above & take some notes too.

I found a good game plan that all of us can follow for sure and it comes from Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) and it’s all about being Consistent!!  The powerful message that all of us can connect to - “Consistency is incredibly valuable. Consistency is a superpower. Excellence breeds excellence.”  This helps to remind me to keep working hard in doing the things that I have to do. With my reading, taking care of myself, investing in my relationships, dealing with the guy in the mirror, and the list goes on and on where I need to be more consistent.  I hope you can take something from this to help you on your journey.

In part 2 - here is a great reminder about “stacking bricks” or adding them to our foundation of our lives - where we focus more on the relationships of our past to help us to become better for today and in our future. The life lessons we learn and the people we learn them with are such an important part of our lives.  Keep stacking bricks and adding logs to that fire of life!!

High School reunions don’t come around all the time - and certainly each of them really only come around once. That’s the case with my 40th reunion that happened this past weekend. This is part 1 - some reflections in the middle of it, mainly coming from me taking some time to drive around my old neighborhood a bit and having a TON of great memories.  It’s all about the foundation of where I came from and that I (all of us) need to never forget where I came from.  Where we grew up - with the good, the bad & the ugly …. are a part of our DNA and it helped to shape things about us.  The people for sure that were part of our early lives, helped us in many ways.  You don’t need your high school reunion to take these things to heart.

Found a post from Jon Gordon (@jongordon11) that reminded me about how important the little things in life are AND the fact that they do lead to bigger things that others will see!  It’s worth it to keep investing in ourselves, keep working hard so that the little things we do in our lives will lead to us being difference makers for others.

We all go through many changes throughout our life & some of them can of course be scary. When I find things like this one, from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie), it reminds me about the importance of connecting with others to help us get through the challenges we all face.  Mark reminds us that “Growth throughout the chapters in our life implies the reality that we must travel out of our comfort zone. As you move outside it, what was once the unknown & frightening becomes your new normal. The hardest thing to do is leaving your comfort zone.”  I found as I was reading this post of his and the other part that went with it, there were waves of emotions that came over me.  He brings up the connection we have to our previous versions of ourselves and I was instantly reminded of the fact that previous versions of myself are with me all the time.  Not only can I lean on those versions of me, but I can still learn from them, since each previous version of myself is still with me today!!  I am even reminded that the same (in part) are the versions of others still with me. My ancestors are still riding in my “car of life” along with current people in my life too. Big shoutout to my brother Dr. Jeff Lip for reaching out the other day.  I needed that phone call for sure!

Simple message today. Not easy to do I guess since I’m still working on this today and all throughout my life.  From, Self-Care Canvas (@selfcarecanvas) brings us this powerful thought (for me it actually is more like a punch in the gut).  “If you’re serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.”  I’m being honest in reflecting about many excuses I’ve made, all throughout my life. Really since as far back as I can remember as a kid, way back in elementary school, I’ve gotten used to making excuses.  All I can do now is to work on making better choices (like I brought up in the previous episode) just a little bit more often every day. Again… so many things out there to pick up to add value to your life and what you want to do - here is another example.  Found this recently from The Winning Difference (@thewinningdiff1) " Everything you do is going to impact your future. So eliminate as many things that don't matter and focus on the things that really do. And, make those matter all the time." - Coach Tom Crean.  This reminds everyone that your future is built by your choices. Make the right choices to increase your chances of success.  A key for me is to realize that this works for me now at my age and it also works for anyone, of any age, at any time.  Another important factor - we all have the choice to do what we want to do. A choice as to what to focus on, each and every day! I know I need to keep working on my choices that I make every single day!!

Found a post here that connected to a total of four people with the same message.. all about being humble!  Kurt Warner (@kurt13warner) posted this powerful clip from Inky Johnson (@inkyjohnson) and a few thoughts on the importance of humility in our lives. It’s all about being coachable. Realizing you don’t know everything and that you stay hungry to keep getting better. It’s the point that was also shared by Gary Vee on a recent podcast - “Be Kind In Tough Situations.”  There was a “huge” connection to the big man himself too… Shaq in this episode.  Make sure you check all these fellas out… awesome stuff to implement into our lives.

Such a simple & totally true message for all of us to remember to just keep going!!  Psyche Wizard (@PsycheWizard) shares this, “No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.” - Tony Robbins.   Just keep trying!!  Don’t quit! Don’t stop! Keep asking for help when we need it.  Keep working on yourself to become better.  This hit me hard because it’s what I’m trying to do & also, I’m not too worried about those that are not trying as I’m trying to not compare myself to others.  I simply need to know that I will get to where I want to go, as long as I don’t stop. Same goes for you! 😎  Thanks for listening.

Going back to the author of one of my favorite books of all time, “The Coffee Bean”  - Damon West (@damonwest7) who reminds us to  “Let your actions and attitude enhance the next room you walk into and watch the ripple effect of your choices.”  A great reminder for me that my actions and attitude are two things that I have direct control over.  This is why it’s so important for me to continue to work on myself through self improvement & personal development.  I may be battling some health issues, but that is why I need to work even harder on other areas of myself to keep getting better, namely my attitude and mental toughness.  We all have obstacles and issues to work through. I just can’t keep letting my issues get the best of me. If you have read this book - reach out.. would love to get a little group together to talk about this book and record it as a podcast.  😀  Thanks for listening.

I never cease to be amazed at how some things come at me that tie in together. I first got a message from my friend Denyse (part of our Difference Maker group) that when she got up this morning and opened up her Spotify - a podcast of mine from May 6 popped up. She doesn’t know how or why that one was the one that came up.  But she listened to it and it was what she needed to hear.  All about piling up little wins each and every day!!  I then saw a post from Gratitude HQ (@gratefuledu64) and it reminded us “By shining your light on the road ahead, you are helping others see their way too!”  I then saw a post from a long-time friend of mine, going to high school together.. that his dad passed away.  Let me just tell you, both of them were educators and both of them shined their light on SO MANY others to help them be their best.  I am overwhelmed emotionally with the connection to all of this & it makes me hungrier to keep working hard to be my best version of myself so that I am able to help others do the same. Found a bigtime reflective thought here from TeacherGoals (@teachergoals) which reminds us that maybe we are so tired not because we are doing too many things, but maybe we are not doing the thing(s) that light a spark inside of us??  It’s one of those things I think that brings us more energy when we are using our time to go after things that inspire us & fire us up!!  Of course we all have to spend our time on doing things that may not exactly inspire us, but that doesn’t mean it has to be all the time.  Take a deep listen to this episode, maybe even more than once. (I hope you do that with a few of my episodes.)  Thanks for listening.

A gem of a thought here from Success Minded (@_SuccessMinded_) where they remind us that “The secret to success is believing in yourself.” This is a great reminder for all of us I hope, but I know it is a BIG reminder for me.  I’ve been focusing on this one a lot lately.  Not just focusing, but intentionally focusing in on improving my belief in myself - thanks to Ben Newman reminding me about the difference there.  Little things every day make a difference in this and it’s something that I’m working on.  I hope you are as well as there is a huge payoff here for us.

Bigtime emotional connection to this post I saw from RelationshipED (@RelationshipEd_) and it’s all about being a safe person. The quote comes from Morgan Richard Olivier.  It reminds me of the simple lesson that we all are carrying worries, burdens, hurt, broken hearts, loneliness, pain, etc., and that we need to be better for other people!! We need to be that safe person for others. In today’s world it’s very difficult with the way some people are treating others - there must be those of us to be the example of helping others.  We need to be better, my friends. We need to keep working on this. Every single day! It’s worth it to try. Found a fantastic reminder today from Gratitude HQ (@gratefuledu64) where they remind us to “be that one” for others.  A great list here to remind us that one person can indeed make a difference for others and more importantly four ourselves. Love the connection that “one idea can shape the future.” The other one off the list, “one candle can wipe out darkness.”  All of these items are so valuable to tap into and reflect on, so take these with you wherever you are going.  We all need guides like these points here. Picked up another great reflection and I found a new connection for awesome info.  Christine Bemis (@ChristineBemis2) along with this: #goodforthesoulmorningwalk, shared this very profound statement to remind us the types of people we need to surround ourselves with.  Inspired, excited and grateful are three awesome types for sure. Also, don’t forget to be those same types for others around you too.  Short and powerful message for today!

Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) came through with some powerful teaching & coaching with this one.  “Don’t worry about the mistakes of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow. TODAY is the day that matters!” He put a whole quote together on his quote board dealing with this gem.  It all deals with yesterday, today and tomorrow. Once again I got a much needed reminder right when I needed to see it.  Hope this one helps you too.

Found a big-time truth for this one.  All from Liminal (@Liminal1988) “Things You Probably Won’t Regret.”  Reading through this list, a rather “simple” list of life things, got me doing some deep reflecting for sure. I would be very interested to get some feedback on this episode as it really moved me to keep trying to live my best life.  I hope you find some value in it too.  Let me know.

Found another great post (again, good stuff is out there that can help us throughout life.. just need to find those things) from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) “A message for today … Things don’t always go perfectly according to plan so don’t judge yourself when things fall short. If you feel like giving up, embrace the power of ‘ONE MORE’. Commit to trying just one more time. Never give up! Rise up & step forward with resilience! “ This leads off his post of the picture of this quote: “People might give up on you. You need to get up every day and make sure you never give up on yourself.” It’s something that we need to carry with us all throughout life. From a powerful & thought provoking post in our Mental Toughness Group with Ben Newman, there was a recent post that got me thinking.  Truth is, so many of these posts get me reflecting on something for me to get better at in my life and the people in this group, not only are looking to get better in their lives, but they are also looking to help others do the same.  This post was titled “winning your fears” and got a few people leaving some thoughts that got me really reflecting.  Bottom line was that the time, energy, worry, emotion, etc., that I give to my fears (which there are many), I could put those into my burn (the thing(s) that are getting me fired up to do things in & with my life! If I can keep looking to transfer the things I “spend” on my fears, and “invest” them into my goals, dreams, purposes, passions, my burn, etc., I will move along in life a lot better.  I went a little overtime here today, sorry about that, but once I got going I guess I had a lot to share.  Hope this episode connects with you.

I found another wonderful reminder and something that I know I’m trying to work towards in my life.  This is brought to you from Gratitude HQ (@gratefuledu64): “One of the happiest moments in life is when you find the courage to let go of what you cannot change.”  So many distractions today and every day, all around us.  Whenever we can figure out how to let go of those things we can’t control, life begins to get a bit better.  I know I keep working on perfecting this skill. One thing for sure, I will keep working on it because I know it works and there will never stop being distractions. This is a very motivating type of show for a Monday, since it involves me connecting with others that just are looking to make a difference with others.  Coach AJ - Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) He’s all about “Building Great Leaders and Better People with actionable ideas on Resilience, Mindset, and Leadership”  Find more at http://thegrowthcompass.beehiiv.com   I shared some recent thoughts on a recent post of his that I needed the reminder he shared coming from Coach John Wooden.  Here is that reminder:  “𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡: Doing hard things builds character and strength.• It's hard to stay positive.• It's hard to be consistent.• It's hard to stay focused.• It's hard to give a great effort every day, If it were easy then everyone would do it.Hard times make tough people.”It’s worth it to stay positive, be consistent, stay focused and to give great effort every day.  It doesn’t have to be for every second of the 24 hours we have in a day, but throughout each day there are plenty of times for us to do these things.  I’m simply trying to do them a bit more often thanks to people like Coach AJ and others that I connect with. It’s a battle every day to do our best, but there are so many benefits to doing our best.  Hope this helps you do your best today! Then again tomorrow, and the next day and so on. I wanted to share one of my readings from the morning, in fact yesterday morning, from John Maxwell’s “Daily Reader”.  I have it on my Kindle App on my phone which makes it easy to check out every single morning.  This one dealt with what are the non-negotiables that we have in our life & are we willing to not cave in on them throughout each day.  It’s a good review for us to think & reflect about and see how we are doing with these things that are supposed to be not just important to us, but part of who we are as a human being trying to live our best lives.

Great stuff again, from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) and it’s a reminder for me and all of us.  “Don’t let your bad days trick you into thinking you have a bad life.”  The little ups and downs that we all go through sure do have a tough time tricking us into thinking we are having more than just a bad day, if we can focus on gratitude and a few other things.  It’s something that I’ve been looking to do a little bit more recently. I Hope this helps you do the same.

Getting back to some teaching from the “Areté: Activate Your Heroic Potential” book by Brian Johnson and from page 249, there is a section called “Ownish vs. Vicimese”. He makes reference to distinctions between being an “owner” and being a “victim”.  In this episode I share the passage he wrote with all the lessons that go with it.  So many great examples that will help me to speak more Ownish and less Victimese. I hope this helps you too.  We should all want to go ALL IN on this one.

Woke up this morning a little bit earlier than normal, mostly thanks to our dog… but also because I heard something recently that if you wake up early and your mind is thinking about something that fires you up or something you want to do - it does no good to try and fall back asleep.  Your best bet is to wake up and attack the day. To actually do something about the thing(s) you are thinking about.  That helped me to get up early too.  I’m part of this Mental Toughness Academy group, run by Ben Newman and it’s become part of my morning routine to check in with the group after my usual a.m. readings that I do.  Today the group had a few normal posts to start the day, but one caught my attention more than usual.  It was all about many times that the pain or tough times we have in our lives, can be really a source of strength or improvement for us.  I thought of this because of some events this past weekend that reminded me that ALL OF US have things we are dealing with. I’m like everyone else that has “stuff” going on, and I had a little bit of a brighter flash-bulb moment that went off for me today and this podcast comes from that and I hope it can help you with your “stuff” that you are going through too. Another post from Psyche Wizard (@PsycheWizard) that hit on a very true statement that I know I have to take to hear a bit more. Fear can be (and should be) temporary.  At times in the middle of the fear, we may think it’s permanent, but we get through it and we realize it wasn’t.  If we don’t fight through the fear, the regret will be for sure, more painful than the few moments of dealing with it. Good lessons for all of us. Fear vs Regret, we get to choose which one we do battle with.
