Imagine standing at the edge of the ordinary, feeling the tug of destiny on your heart – much like Moses did as he stood before the Red Sea. Just as God's voice beckoned Moses to embark on a remarkable journey of leading his people out of Egypt, each of us has our own 'call to adventure' in life. Moses' encounter with a parting sea represents that pivotal moment when the ordinary world collides with the divine, igniting a journey of challenges, growth, and purpose. Today, we explore our own 'Red Sea' moments – those times when we sense God's calling to venture beyond our comfort zones, to stepfwd into uncharted waters, and to discover the profound truths that lie beyond the horizon. Join us as we delve into the story of Moses, a reluctant leader who responded to the call with faith, and learn how his journey can illuminate our paths. Just as Moses faced uncertainty, resistance, and transformation, so too do we encounter the unknown with a blend of trepidation and excitement. Let's draw from Moses' courage and his unwavering belief in God's guidance as we explore our own 'calls to adventure,' discovering how they can shape our faith, our purpose, and our lives. Today we are chatting with our panel about the biblical concept of "flesh" and how it shapes our identities and behaviors. We explore the idea that our environments and experiences from birth mold us in unique ways, influenced by both spiritual and psychological factors. We'll discuss the insights of theorists who believed that our experiences significantly impact our development and examine biblical examples of patterns passed down through family lines. Join us as Debbie and Leah return as panel members to help unravel these profound truths and provide practical insights for understanding and overcoming the influence of the flesh in our lives. Biblical Rooting: Romans 8:4-6 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. In this enlightening episode, join us as we delve into the profound consequences of the fall of humanity in Tangled in Weeds. Special guests Colin Dyer and Leah Dyer help us explore the metaphor of weeds in the Garden of Eden, illustrating how sin has spread and entangled every aspect of our lives. We'll discuss how the original act of disobedience by Adam and Eve planted the seeds of sin, leading to separation from God, a distorted identity, and the introduction of the law of sin and death. Colin and Leah bring fresh perspectives on the suffering and brokenness that resulted from the fall, and how it affects our daily lives. Together, we'll uncover the struggle for redemption and the hope we have in Jesus Christ to untangle the mess of sin and restore us to a right relationship with God. Whether you're a seasoned believer or just beginning your spiritual journey, this episode aims to empower, enlighten, and encourage you to understand the deep roots of sin and the transformative power of God's grace. Tune in and join the conversation as we seek to understand the intricate and pervasive nature of sin and how we can find redemption and restoration in Christ. Biblical Rooting: Romans 5:12-19 (NIV) Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ 12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned— 13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone's account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come. 15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16 Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! 18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. Biblical Rooting: The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for “‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, “‘For we are indeed his offspring.'" Welcome back to Southern Soul Chats. On today's bonus epiosde, we're diving into something pretty powerful— a fresh perpespective on how we can step differently into the canvas of 2024. We're exploring what the Bible says about letting God take the reins and be the author of our stories. Join us as we chat with Daren Neely, stand up comic, pastor, & philanthropist, as he shares his insight on the significance of placing God at the forefront of each day, leaning on His guidance, and soaking in the wisdom from the daily bread He provides. We'll talk about how we can trade New Years Resoultions, that often fail and leave us feeling void, for daily goals that provide us with the opportunity to see God's grace and mercy. Together, let's put down that pen and let God write/right our 2024 story. Biblical Rooting: "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.
