The Legendary Ladies are back! It's the return of the Russos! It's our second spooky season selection - Sweetpea on Starz! (Sorry, just had to get our alliterations in.) Our newest spooky season pick is a PilotPod covering the new Starz series Sweetpea, staring Ella Purnell. Amy and Kat are...lukewarm about this series, which is surprising, since on its head, the premise is excellent. The hosts chat about the fact that the hook that brought us in during the first 10 minutes failed to maintain the hype, whether or not the lack of good supporting characters undermined the 'ghost' theme they were going for (we get it, there was a purpose..it just didn't sell), and why the ___ had to die. All in all, we think the actress did a fantastic job with what was written, we just think we need to give it another episode to see where things go. The problem is...was this episode enough to get us to episode 2? This week, the Legendary Ladies watch "Am I Okay?", starring Dakota Johnson, which has finally made its way onto HBO Max, despite having made the film circuits back in 2022. The first film in a while that has won over all three hosts, Amy, Kat, and Morgan chat about what makes this film so relatable. While at its surface level, it sells as 'just' a story about a queer coming out journey, the movie brings to light a number of the challenges and stories that Millenials face. It's a movie about the crisis of feeling "stuck" in your early thirties, about the trauma of a deep friendship breakup, and how success looks different for everyone. It's the episode you've been waiting for! The Legendary Ladies are here with their review of the first episode of Netflix's new Avatar: The Last Airbender series. Each host has seen the full run of the animated series, but each their own connection to the source material. Among a host of other topics, they discuss the changes at the start of the episode and the introduction of the Air Nomads, what they feel about the choices made by the creators regarding Aang's character, and whether or not changes in the plot actually affected the flow of the story. But as they discuss the series, the hosts come to recognize that they may be physically incapable of viewing the series objectively. With the animated series being, to many viewers (and our hosts), quite near perfect, they wonder - what can *this* series do to be more than just..."fine"?
