040: The Secret Key To Being Loud, Real, and Seen
This topic has quickly and easily become one of my favorite things to talk about in this world.   So today’s episode is all about safety… which is the crucial piece to being loud, being real, and being seen.   This week’s episode gives us the secret to feeling way safer showing up, speaking up, and being seen.   I’ve used this secret countless times in my business, and my clients have used it too.   Matter of fact, I’m going to make a big claim:   This is the only thing that’ll really help you feel comfortable showing up, being louder, and being seen.   In this episode, I’ll be talking about: That sometimes when we show up as our fullest expression of selves we get negative reactions and rejected  Why it makes complete fucking sense that you aren’t showing up as boldly as you’d like  The two common places most entrepreneurs feel unsafe in their marketing Why you can’t seek safety entirely outside of yourself The three keys feeling safer showing up loud, bold, and being seen Inner Safety Visualization: https://revolutionaryrising.com/inner-safety-visualization/ Connect with Gieselle: Apply for 1:1 Coaching: https://gieselleallen.com/1-1-coaching/ Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/

039: The “Good Girl” Trap w/ Brenda Ramos
“Be where you are, be the fullest expression of who and what you are in this moment.”    Today we are blessed to have Brenda Ramos join us as our first guest of the season!   Brenda works at the intersection of mindfulness, spirituality, and decoloniality as a life coach, mindfulness meditation teacher, and intuitive movement guide.   In this episode Brenda and I discuss:  Her intersectional identities as a white-presenting mixed race Boricua of Taino Caribbean ancestors. How growing up in the Catholic Church and spending summers in Puerto Rico led Brenda to “be a good girl” and keep her head down in order to stay “safe”. The need to be seen and heard and rebelling against years of oppression.  Brenda’s mindfulness tips that help her work through the programming that exists within her as a result of colonization. How we need to trust ourselves because there’s a place within us under layers of socialization and fear that knows what we truly need to be loud, be real, and be seen. About Brenda:   Brenda Ramos is a foul-mouthed, spiritual, sensual, sacred being made of light and stardust (aka an intricate system of atoms, neurons, cells, etc.). She acknowledges her intersectional identities, such as able-bodied, neurotypical, queer, cis-gendered, white-presenting, 1st-gen woman of Puerto Rican heritage, and mixed-race, most deeply connected to her Taíno ancestors. As well as a mom, daughter, sister, titi, friend, lover, teacher, student, meditator, dark chocolate enthusiast, chocolate chip cookie devourer, random drooler, and seasoned homebody.   For nearly twenty years, Brenda taught hundreds of people worldwide to express their sexiness through salsa dance. Now, she helps her clients remember and reconnect to their unique purpose and rhythm in life. Her approach is spirit-led, heart-centered, and whole-person focused. 038: It’s Not You, It’s White Supremacy
Today’s topic is my bread and butter y’all!    Most of us have learned about showing up and being seen through a super white lens. But that white lens is not for us because it places blame on us.    It tells us that we are playing small and getting in our own way but we’ve been conditioned to feel that way.   Here’s the good news though: once you know and truly believe that so many of the things you’re struggling with aren’t actually your fault, or a personal feeling…   …then you can actually heal your roadblocks and move on from the internal drama that’s keeping you from showing up in the world the way you want to.   So here’s what we’re covering in this episode: Why it’s so damn hard to talk yourself into speaking up, being louder, and showing up Common experiences BIPOC have that lead to you feeling “unsafe” or “unsure” showing up in your natural expression How our family and community polices us to show up in “good” and “appropriate” ways The neurodivergent + queer experience, and how that can exacerbate the assimilation “rules” we’re taught as kids   Connect with Gieselle: Apply for 1:1 Coaching: https://gieselleallen.com/1-1-coaching/ Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/

037: Be Loud, Be Real, Be Seen
The Bitch is back y’all!    We are on season 3 and this season is all about being loud, being real, and being seen!   This season is going to be different from the first 2 seasons- we’re diving into new topics and new perspectives. And guests are back this season because 1. Representation matters and 2. I want you to experience their journeys and how they’ve learned to be their bold, messy, loud, and real selves!   So who is this season actually for? Well precious it’s for my brilliant revolutionary folks, changemakers, entrepreneurs, and visionaries. Here’s a quick preview of what we’re getting into this season: The perspective shifts that you need to make to be the loudest, boldest, and realest version of yourself Exactly what being loud, being real, and being seen really means All the ways that we don’t allow ourselves to be loud, be real, and be seen and what the fuck to do about it (spoiler alert- it’s about you, not them) Safety and how it’s an essential piece to showing up as our fullest selves How to bring in the good while releasing some fears of not being understood, accepted, and everything else you can think of   It’s gonna be a fantastic fucking season and I hope you commit to sticking around for the ride!   Connect with Gieselle: Apply for 1:1 Coaching: https://gieselleallen.com/1-1-coaching/ Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/

036: You don’t have “first world problems”
That’s a wrap on season 2! This episode we are chatting with the amazing Olivia Howard. If you don’t know who they are, I promise you, you will be glad you hopped on this episode. We are wrapping up all the things that were discussed in this season about revolutionary leadership, and discussing the final, *most important* topic… YOU! That’s right, the most important aspect to revolutionary leadership begins and ends with you, precious.  For some of you that may seem pretty ominous to your goals… focusing on yourself, but you need to. Olivia nails it in this episode when they say, “Revolutionary leadership is a deep commitment to our humanity”.  It’s all about being HUMAN, babe!  Be messy  be vulnerable be needy AF.    When we start to give ourselves space to focus on ourselves, a lot of times our mind tells us to stop complaining about “first world problems”. As if our problems are frivolous. So we are eliminating that phrase, first world problems, because it just isn’t a thing.  Your problems matter, YOU matter.  While this is the end of season two :( Olivia and I brought all we had to this extended session and it is one you do not want to miss. This one isn’t just for you, is all about you!   Connect with Gieselle:  Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/   Apply for 1:1 or group coaching with Gieselle:  https://gieselleallen.com/

035: No one wants you to be perfect
This episode is perfect in all the imperfect ways. We all hold onto this thought, even a little bit whether you are a revolutionary leader or not, that to be the BEST at anything, we must be perfect in all of the ways. Not only is this complete BS…  It’s exhausting! Let’s get real together, perfectionism isn’t a damn thing. As revolutionary leaders we acknowledge that perfectionism needs to be put behind us, but it shows up in really funky other ways, and in this episode we are going to talk about it. You deserve to be more than perfect. You deserve to be whole. You don’t need to have it all together. You get to let it all fall apart. Perfectionism is a confining space that I am going to help you bust the hell out of. We are going to lose this fucked up sense of being perfect, and embrace our messy ass selves.   Connect with Gieselle:  Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/   Apply for 1:1 or group coaching with Gieselle:  https://gieselleallen.com/

034: You don’t need an “empire”
Size… really doesn’t matter! This episode we are talking all about size… business size!  There are a whoooooole lot of people out there who will tell you if you don’t want to have a seven figure business with 20+ employees you have a mindset problem, or you are playing small.  *sigh*  Maybe you still believe that a large business equals success but you are exhausted, burnout, and unsettled. There is a difference between not thinking you deserve something and creating something out of a deprived trauma response. Let’s talk about what no one is talking about publicly, what does a sustainable business that matches your energy look like? What about a business that supports you financially and aligns with what you actually enjoy and love? The impact your business makes does not equate to its size. Your business doesn’t need to be this continuous growing beast to support you or your impact.  I know this isn’t a sexy conversation topic and goes against all topics of ‘abundance mindset’, but it is a conversation that needs to be had!  Why? Because when you begin to teeter on the edge of, I hate what I am doing and I am not good enough to make this business work, the reality is you likely aren’t building a business with your true-self but with the capitalist worldview to be more is to do more and grow more.  Regardless of where you are in your business, maybe you are struggling to ‘grow’ because you feel that is what you MUST do to be successful. Maybe you have grown too much and just dread doing anything business related. This episode is for you, love.    Connect with Gieselle:  Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/   Apply for 1:1 or group coaching with Gieselle:  https://gieselleallen.com/

033: Prioritizing your needs is revolutionary AF
Continuing the conversation about overgiving and boundaries This episode is a love letter to all the people pleasers, responsibility holders, and folks who love to take care of other people.  We are conditioned through our formative years to believe that to make a difference, to be successful, we must follow the golden rule of capitalism, to give everything we possibly can. Our needs are unimportant, and to put our needs first is… SELFISH News flash, putting your needs first, prioritizing yourself, setting boundaries, IS revolutionary leadership.  This episode you’re  learning how to walk the talk. We are learning our needs, learning how to assess our capacity to give, and most importantly learning how to protect those needs and boundaries with the magical word, NO! Your needs and boundaries guide the space for your community, and while you may get pushback, this conversation is going to empower you to stand your ground.   Connect with Gieselle:  Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/   Apply for 1:1 or group coaching with Gieselle:  https://gieselleallen.com/

032: you give too much, sib
Revolutionary leadership is NOT synonymous with overgiving!  Regardless of the season, overgiving is never in. We are chatting all about the ‘why’ of overgiving. You may ask yourself, how do I regulate my giving when I want to serve and give to as many people as possible? We are diving into giving at our own expense, serving when it is not the best thing for us, when we have other needs, when we are at our capacity.  Overgiving does not equate to being a revolutionary leader. This may come off as shocking, praised leaders are noted to have given until they could give no more, but I promise you this is not a toxic cycle we are going to repeat.  Overgiving is exactly that… A toxic cycle!  While celebrating these leaders we have promoted the idea that to truly serve others is to drain yourself of everything… FUCK THAT! This episode we are confronting the toxic ideology that giving all of yourself is what makes a good leader, how white supremicist culture has taught BIPOC that this is our role (to give unconditionally), and how capitalism has conditioned us to function that way.  This episode is not to be missed. Grow in your revolutionary leadership and still have more than enough left over for yourself. I can’t promise you won’t feel called out, you might feel a bit attacked, but there is no growth without some pain, lovelies!   Connect with Gieselle:  Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/   Apply for 1:1 or group coaching with Gieselle:  https://gieselleallen.com/

031: Overcoming isolation in leadership
Overcoming the lonely road of leadership After the last episode we know why revolutionary leadership can get so damn lonely, now we are digging into what the fuck to do about it! We CRAVE a community of like minded people, and seek nourishing reciprocal relationships, but as we dive head first into the pool of prospects we tend to feel a bit more let down versus lifted up.  While each of our journeys is unique, our past traumas are likely going to impede the transition from lonely to supported. Our traumas, formed during periods of feeling unsafe, unseen, unheard, or harmed in our relationships, can be easily triggered when forming new relationships.  Let’s say it together, people cannot meet our needs if they do not know our needs!    Step 1. KNOW our needs  Step 2. Express those needs.  Step 3. Find people wanting/willing to meet said needs    We are breaking the capitalistic constraints of who "valuable community members’" are, and no longer shying away from the growing pains of a good relationship.  This episode we are learning to listen to our nervous system and navigate the journey of community building. No more gravitating to the wrong ass people and deepening old wounds. It takes practice, consistency, and time to build reciprocal, nourishing, relationships and there is no better time than right now to get started!   Connect with Gieselle:  Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/   Apply for 1:1 or group coaching with Gieselle:  https://gieselleallen.com/

030: why’s it “lonely at the top”?
Based on the saying that we all know, and have honestly felt intimately at some point or another, “it’s lonely at the top”.  So many of my clients that I work with come to me at pretty much the same point... they are good at holding communities together for others, but feel devoid of a community which supports them in all their needs and wants. Listen, this isolation of revolutionary leaders is a fucking epidemic! It’s also by (white supremacist) design. The truth is, we go so much further together, and we know this in our culture, yet we are all functioning in a deeply broken place. We focus on ourselves and believe that asking for help makes our achievements less than, and as women and femmes of color we have become hyper-individualized.   Today we’re going to talk about: Why it feels lonely at the top What white supremacy has to do with this How our intergenerational trauma is getting in the way of us having deeper support in our leadership If you listen to no other episode of the podcast, (but like, do, it’s dope, lol!) this is the one to listen to because when revolutionary leaders of color come together, support one another, compare notes… ...we truly are capable of liberating our communities and changing the entire fucking world.   Connect with Gieselle:  Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/   Apply for 1:1 or group coaching with Gieselle:  https://gieselleallen.com/

029: owning power (without being oppressive)
After discussing the concept of leadership and power in episode two, it is time we discuss the importance of leaning into our leadership and continually seeing and expressing our power. Doing this is necessary to make the massive impact we are hoping for, to liberate our communities, and create better futures for us all. It is time for you to deepen and expand your power. 027: WTF is Revolutionary leadership (and why does it matter?)
Welcome back to Revolutionary Rising! I am coming back loaded with all the things you loved in last season, but also going on a journey together, exploring topics from many sides.    Together we are EVOLVING…   We are moving on from conversations about confidence and feeling stuck. We know how to overcome obstacles when we need to. Instead, we are discussing meeting not only others’ needs, but also our own. Learning how to step into our power and own it.    Most importantly, we are discussing leadership, all the ways we have a bullshit view on what it is, and how we make ourselves feel as if we aren’t one.   Connect with Gieselle:  Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/   Apply for 1:1 or group coaching with Gieselle:  https://gieselleallen.com/

Do you have pieces of your business that just don’t feel right for you right now? If so - it’s okay to take a step back, my dear. It’s okay to take some space from something to get in right relationship with it. In today’s episode, I share how I am reevaluating the ways I show up in my marketing and how you can avoid capitalism’s trap of urgency by taking space from the things that do not feel in alignment for you right now. 025: Coming Home To Yourself & Your Stories w/ Akansha Agrawal
Finding and connecting to our truth is deeply important for us as women and femmes of color - it gives us the freedom to do business in the revolutionary ways we crave. In today’s episode, I talk to embodiment and storytelling coach Akansha Agrawal, about reclaiming the narrative around who we “need” to be to find success in this world and how owning your truest self can help you step up as the leader you are truly meant to be.  We dive into: Rejecting the capitalistic standard of success and redefining how you measure success in your life and business How Akansha released herself from the trap of comparison and self-doubt The importance of creating from a place of safety and trust How connecting to her story and embodiment work helped Akansha become a better speaker and business owner A limiting belief about rest that could be holding you back from creating the life you want Why Akansha is focusing on South Asian voices and what she is doing to be able to hold a safe space for her community How to release yourself from the deep disempowerment narrative in the entrepreneurship space And so much more!   Connect with Akansha:   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/citrusandgold/?hl=en   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/citrusandgold   Website: https://www.citrusandgold.com/   Connect with Gieselle:    Join me in my free private Facebook group, Revolutionary Entrepreneurs of Color, and continue the conversation! https://www.facebook.com/groups/679342759273155/    Apply for Revolutionary Rising: https://revolutionaryrising.com/home/   Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen/

024: It Gets To Be Easy w/ Leslie Tagorda
You don’t have to search for it. The patriarchy doesn’t need to tell you what it is. The way you’re meant to operate, the way you’re meant to do business - the answers are already inside of you. In today’s episode, I talk to brand astrologer and designer, Leslie Tagorda, about how she built a revolutionary business by doing what she loves and how you can release the limiting beliefs around what your life and business “should be” so you can lean into a commitment to yourself and start calling in more ease and success (whatever that means for you!) into your life. We dive into: What led Leslie to her revolutionary business of combining astrology and design How she got stuck in comparison and copying for 15 years (and how she broke through!) Why the messaging around entrepreneurship is especially harmful for folks of color  The importance of a commitment to self when building a business or brand Being conscious of what success means to you (and why this is vital if you want to thrive!) 023: The Truth About Redefining Success
We’re told that once we make X amount of money in our business - we’ll be successful and we can finally rest and enjoy it. Truth is, honey, this is capitalist bullshit. And if you are trying to do business in a revolutionary way, you will always be at odds with this idea. In today’s episode, I break down the “money is success” myth and walk you through the mindset tools you need to decolonize your business and redefine what success means for YOU.  I’m digging into: How to navigate your own version of success in a patriarchal and capitalist society Why running your business in integrity might mean slower growth (and why this is okay!) The MOST IMPORTANT thing to start with when running a revolutionary business Why you might be experiencing short-lived peaks in your business (and what to do about it!) What to do if you get triggered by comparison or the capitalist bullshit How you could be holding yourself back from creating your own business strategy (and why you are totally capable of doing it!) 018: Your “Money Mindset” Isn’t The Problem w/ Lindsay Bryan-Podvin
What bullshit stories have you been told around money? Truth is, as women and femmes of color, we need to ditch the traditional finance narratives and harmful capitalist culture if we want to cultivate a healthy relationship with money. On today’s episode, I have a deep conversation with financial therapist Lindsay Bryan-Podvin about navigating a business that feels in integrity within capitalism and how to release the shame around money to run a more revolutionary business.  We dive into: The importance of including money in the mental health and emotional work we do in our lives Why a shame-free relationship with money is so important to Lindsay and her work The stark binary in the traditional finance world (and how to undo this damaging messaging) How the money mindset conversation can be spiritual bypassing in disguise (and how to spot it!) The difference between guilt and shame in reference to money and how it impacts your ability to show up How to distinguish good debt from something that might not actually be serving you Navigating revolutionary business while in the capitalist structure How she helps clients define money trauma What conscious capitalism means and how to practice it in your business Lindsay’s journey to bringing spirituality into her financial therapy work Her BIGGEST takeaway for you around cultivating a relationship with money And so much more!   Connect with Lindsay:    Website: www.mindmoneybalance.com   IG: https://www.instagram.com/mindmoneybalance/   Podcast Mind Money Balance: www.mindmoneybalance.com/podcast   Connect with Gieselle:    Join me in my free private Facebook group, The Woman of Color Entrepreneur Revolution, and continue the conversation! https://www.facebook.com/groups/679342759273155/    Apply for 1:1 coaching with me: https://www.gieselleallen.com/book-now    Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gieselleallen

017: You Are Not Right
I can teach you the right way to live, to do business, to thrive. Heard this bullshit story before? The truth is, the right or wrong binary is deeply damaging to us as women and femmes of color. On today’s episode, I dig into the impact of rightness on our mindset and on the way we operate in life and business and discuss finding true liberation by allowing your intuition to guide you instead.  I’m digging into: How living in an either/or world is a direct function of white supremacy (and how to release yourself from this trap) What happens when you allow your own intuition to be “right” instead How the right/wrong binary might be showing up in your business What this binary is actually teaching you about yourself and why this is so damaging An important question to start asking yourself about who you follow and the content you consume What could be happening in your life and business if you are too focused on being right How the people you follow and listen to may be disempowering you (and how to stop this from happening!) My take on the path to liberation and the ONE thing you need to do to find yours And more! 015: Reclaiming our Identities from Whiteness
If you don’t feel worthy in your identities, you won’t feel worthy in your life or biz. So, by whose rules are you measuring if your identities are important? On today’s episode, I am unpacking my spiritual identity and reflecting on why we hide from the parts of ourselves that might turn people off and instead why we need to embrace and reclaim every part as important and valuable. Your whole fucking self is deeply important to your message, my love, so why aren’t you sharing it? Let’s dive in.  Im digging into: The importance of rewriting the narrative from dominant culture around spirituality  My inner work on embracing my psychic and medium gifts and sharing them with the world The lack of space for folks of color in the spiritual world and how problematic this can be How my spiritual journey got started and how it was actually my first form of decolonization Why it is so deeply important to embrace ALL of our identities  The MOST IMPORTANT thing you can be doing to build true connection with your community Why being seen by as many people as possible is NOT the goal And so much more!
