The Church Security Through Prevention podcast is a conversation with a variety of people around the country. Individuals who can provide insights that will be of value to others as they start, grow, or maintain the security at their church or ministry. Protecting the sheep with a heart of service.
Carl Chinn talks about the many facets of the Faith Based Security Network and how it can benefit faith-based ministries around the country. There are many subjects covered that you will find interesting as you listen. The website for the FBSN is www.fbsnamerica.com. Like it was talked about in the show, this is where you can purchase Carl’s book Evil Invades the Sanctuary, get information about his deadly force study and join the FBSN, or contact them if you have any questions. Paul Buckner who is one of the Church Safety Guys, contacted me about a situation that happened at a church near him that he was consulting with. This is a a great example of how fast something can go so wrong and fortunately for this church there was no loss of life. As we unpack this incident there are a lot of other things within this that are discussed and I am sure that it could go even deeper in your own training.

I am thrilled to have Paul Lake back again as a guest to talk about having a culture of training in our churches. I sincerely hope that churches around the country are encouraged to make whatever necessary changes need to happen to strengthen and move forward the ministry of safety and security. I would highly encourage you to share it with others in your church leadership and other churches.

A suggestion regarding a podcast about mistakes made and lessons learned was given recently. I am really excited about this and as I have reached out to several security leaders to see about them taking some time to share some of those things, it just confirms what I have been told at our seminars as well, that there are people out there that really want to know these things. This is far bigger than I thought it was going to be so it looks like this is going to be an ongoing off and on series for a while.

Paul has an extensive background in a lot of different areas, but what I think is most impressive is the heart for service that he has for the safety ministry in churches. There are very few safety and security leaders around the country that I would consider to be a standard for others to glean from, but after talking to Paul today he is definitely among those leaders. The topic today is Emergency Action Plans. I hope that this two part conversation will help you get going in developing one or dust off and update the one you have.
