Bethany Kimsey welcomes you for a quick cup of coffee, some laughs and maybe a few tears as we talk about the realities of motherhood. As a mother of 8 children ranging in age from 5-21, Bethany has learned the freedom of applying gospel truths to the daily details with children. Together we will learn how to take spiritual truths into the micro and macro moments of motherhood. How do we make this fuzzy intersection of real life mothering and the gospel clearly defined for vision and confidence? Connection happens when we meet together in the real spaces-- the kitchen tables of life-- sharing stories of hope, truth, and grace. When God breaks through everything changes about our motherhood, and we can walk with confidence and purpose.
Bethany dives into how we can bring life, purpose, and direction to our parenting by looking at where our children are in their spiritual journey. She talks about meeting our kids where they are and asking God for wisdom to guide us in walking alongside them.In this episode, Bethany explores the different ages and stages of childhood—from preschool through the teen years and shares practical ways to have meaningful conversations with Jesus at each stage. She gives examples from her own home and experiences, offering guidance for helping children understand their worth in God and see themselves through His eyes.Parenting in gospel truth isn’t always easy, but by understanding the unique needs of each stage, we can remind our children of God’s love and guide them in their spiritual growth. For more resources and to connect with Bethany, visit bethanykimsey.co.

In this episode, Bethany shares the five pillars she returns to in her role as a mother. These pillars serve as anchor points during seasons when motherhood feels heavy or when it’s hard to stay in tune.Bethany talks about the importance of remembering that our children are souls in need of a Savior and how that truth shapes a gentle, grounded approach to parenting. She shares why asking for God’s wisdom matters, how learning the gospel deeply changes perspective, and what it looks like to parent as an ambassador rather than from a place of control. The conversation also touches on listening and discernment, interceding for our children through prayer, and the need for community with other women. Bethany closes with encouragement to stay rooted in how God sees your children and to talk to God with them as you walk through motherhood.Connect with Bethany: https://www.bethanykimsey.com/Join The Warrior Mama Course: https://www.bethanykimsey.com/courses

In this episode, Bethany joins the conversation to talk honestly about discipline, especially the seasons when it feels constant, exhausting, and emotionally heavy. She shares from her own experience of walking through a season where her children were triggering frustration and anger, and how isolating that can feel as a parent. Bethany names the reality of being worn down by repeated correction and the temptation to discipline from irritation instead of intention.Throughout the episode, she unpacks six core truths that serve as guardrails for discipline. These truths help parents respond with peace, love, and joy rather than reaction. She reminds listeners that every child has deep value, that God desires relationship with them, and that behavior or sin does not define who a child is.Bethany emphasizes heart motivation over surface behavior, encouraging parents to remember their role as stewards and shepherds, not controllers. She points parents back to God’s heart, His kindness, forgiveness, and patience, and challenges them to model that same posture in discipline. This episode reframes discipline as an opportunity to guide a child out of their mess and toward restoration, connection, and grace.Connect with Bethany: https://www.bethanykimsey.com/Join The Warrior Mama Course: https://www.bethanykimsey.com/courses

In this episode, Bethany is joined by her husband Troy to talk about disobedience in children and what parents actually do in the moment it shows up.They speak honestly about mistakes they’ve made and what 27 years of parenting has taught them. Disobedience isn’t treated as surprising or alarming. It’s named as a normal part of raising kids and something parents should expect.Bethany and Troy talk about why disobedience often feels personal, how quickly parents move into reaction, and why learning to pause matters. They walk through how to look at what motivated the behavior and how to respond with clarity instead of control. The conversation also breaks down what obedience and disobedience really mean, the different places children can be in when they disobey, and how these moments can be used for instruction rather than power struggles. This episode gives parents a clear way to think about disobedience and a steadier framework for responding when it happens.Connect with Bethany: https://www.bethanykimsey.com/Join The Warrior Mama Course: https://www.bethanykimsey.com/courses

Bethany answers a question every parent faces.“How do I help my kids grow in gratitude when the world pushes entitlement?”Bethany walks through three patterns she often sees in her own home: possessiveness, selfishness, and entitlement. She explains how each one can open the door to meaningful and Gospel centered conversations. She also shares how these patterns show up at different ages and how we can respond with grace instead of frustration.Bethany reminds us that these moments begin with our own hearts. Before we lead our kids toward gratitude, we often need to notice where we feel discontent or deserving ourselves. In a culture that centers everything around a child’s comfort and happiness, this episode helps bring us back to what truly matters: humility, character, and a Gospel shaped view of gratitude.Join the newsletter:https://warriormotherhood.myflodesk.com/prayerguide

In this episode, Bethany opens up about the pressure so many moms feel to perform, measure up, and hold everything together. She shares how that weight can start to lift when we let the gospel actually run through our motherhood. Understanding that you are already complete in him changes everything. It softens the constant self-judgment, eases the pressure to prove yourself, and opens space to experience real peace, even in the small, ordinary moments of the day.Bethany reminds us of the truths that steady us. God’s love never pulls away and is not earned by our performance. His joy is full and complete, not dependent on how our day went or how our kids respond to us. His peace is present even when life feels chaotic. And when the pressure rises, he invites us to reconnect, to pour out our worries, and to rest in the reality that we are fully and completely loved. These truths are drawn from John 15:8, John 15:11, John 14, and John 14:18–20, grounding us in the reality that our worth, our joy, and our peace come from God, not from what we do or how we perform. This episode is an invitation to let those truths settle deeply into your motherhood so you can move from pressure to peace and breathe a little easier each day.Join the newsletter:https://warriormotherhood.myflodesk.com/prayerguide

Have you ever been so overwhelmed that even praying felt hard? The kind of heavy where you know God is good, but your mind can’t keep up with your heart? In this episode of The Warrior Mama Podcast, Bethany shares what God taught her in one of those seasons. With eight children, health challenges, and more on her plate than most could imagine, she asked God how to keep moving forward when it all felt like too much. His response was simple but powerful: build an altar. She takes us back to Joshua 4, where God told the Israelites to gather stones from the Jordan River as a reminder of His faithfulness. Bethany began doing the same in her own life, collecting stones of Scripture, answered prayers, and moments where God showed up in quiet ways. Those reminders became anchors when the overwhelm tried to take over. This conversation is for the mom who wants to feel grounded again. It’s a reminder that when life feels heavy, God hasn’t gone anywhere. You can build your own altar right where you are, remembering the ways He’s already been faithful. Welcome back to The Kitchen Table with Bethany. Bethany reflects on the struggles of motherhood, including the fear, anxiety, and pressure that come from focusing too much on outcomes. She shares how she realized that comparing herself and her children to others kept her trapped in a cycle of performance instead of connection.Bethany shares a word picture God placed in her life: she had hoped for Bradford pear trees but ended up with an oak shrub instead. Initially frustrated, she came to see that God was teaching her an important lesson. Just as an oak takes time to grow, children also develop according to God’s timing. Parenting isn’t about controlling the outcome or performing perfectly—it’s about creating the right environment, supporting growth, and trusting God’s plan for each child.Bethany reflects on the freedom that comes when parents release comparison and fear and focus on the process rather than performance. She encourages parents to stop measuring themselves against others, trust God’s work in their children, and give their kids time and care as they grow.Bethany’s story offers encouragement for parents who feel discouraged, overwhelmed, or uncertain, reminding them that God’s plan for their children is unique. Welcome back to the Kitchen Table. For the next few episodes, we’re exploring what it looks like to see our children through God’s eyes and let that shape our motherhood. It’s easy to get caught up in “product thinking,” focusing on milestones, outcomes, or trying to fix every struggle. But our children are not projects—they are God’s handiwork, growing and changing in his timing. Even the hardest kids are fully known, fully loved, and fully committed to by Him, and we get to partner with Him rather than carry the weight alone.Shifting to process thinking over product thinking softens the pressure, frees us from unnecessary guilt, and helps us trust God’s work in their hearts. Welcome back to the Warrior Mama Podcast! It’s been a while, but Bethany is pulling up a chair at the kitchen table again, and she’s so glad you’re here.In this episode, we’re starting fresh by talking about what it really means to live out a gospel-centered motherhood. It’s a phrase we hear often, but what does it actually look like? How do we connect what we believe to the realities of everyday life with our kids—when the days feel messy, disjointed, and far from picture-perfect?Bethany tackles the underlying question so many moms carry in their hearts: “How do I make my faith make sense in my everyday life?” This isn’t about adding another lecture to your to-do list, but about discovering how the gospel becomes part of the way we love, walk with, and show our kids the heart of the Father.Starting with Colossians 1:28–29, Bethany shares how proclaiming who Jesus is in your motherhood leads to maturity in Christ. This is the foundation we build on, the starting point for everything else. Before we get into the “how-to’s,” we have to begin with knowing what the gospel is and how it anchors our motherhood. So grab your coffee, pull up a chair, and join Bethany as we go back to the beginning—because living a gospel-centered motherhood starts here.Connect with Bethany: https://www.bethanykimsey.com/Join The Warrior Mama Podcast: https://www.bethanykimsey.com/courses

Welcome back to the kitchen table. It’s easy to believe the lie: I could so easily mess my kids up.You feel unequipped, uncertain, and the voice in your head whispers, you’re going to get this wrong. The pressure is everywhere—social media, parenting books, comparison. It all points to some impossible gold standard of motherhood, convincing you that if you don’t get it exactly right, you’ll fail your children. But your motherhood was never meant to look like anyone else’s.God leads you in motherhood. He makes promises, and he keeps them. Colossians 1 reminds us that he is the one who equips us fully. He holds it all—your strengths, your struggles, your children’s needs. There isn’t a gold standard of motherhood that matters. There is a God-standard. And, he promises to walk with you through it all.You can let go of the fear that you’ll mess your kids up, because he is in control. Your job isn’t perfection—it’s trust. Welcome back to the kitchen table. Motherhood has a way of making perfection feel like the goal. We chase it relentlessly—the perfect routines, the perfect responses, the perfect balance of patience and discipline. We convince ourselves there’s a standard we should meet. This lie catches us fast.We snap at our children and hear, you always mess up. We make a mistake and think, I’ll never get this right. The weight of it presses down, convincing us that if we could just try harder, do better, be more—we’d finally measure up.But here’s the truth: You don’t need to be perfect. You are forgiven.Ephesians 1 reminds us that we have redemption through Christ, that his grace covers us. Motherhood isn’t about proving ourselves; it’s about learning under forgiveness. When we sin against our children, we don’t have to carry shame. We get to model repentance. We get to show them what it looks like to walk in grace. You were never meant to be perfect. Welcome back to the kitchen table. Motherhood changes everything. Before kids, you had freedom—quiet mornings, spontaneous plans, uninterrupted thoughts. Now, your days are filled with constant needs, endless noise, and the weight of responsibility. And sometimes, if you're honest, you miss the old you.The lie creeps in: you’re missing out. You see friends traveling, pursuing careers, or simply having a moment to themselves, and it stirs something in you. Discontentment sneaks in, whispering that you’ve lost yourself. That life was better before. But Colossians 3:1-4 reminds us to set our minds on things above. The truth is, you are not missing out—you are walking in a calling. God isn’t rattled by your longing or your weariness. Every moment—messy, mundane, beautiful—is for his glory. The only way for the lie to die is to replace it with truth. You have not lost yourself. Welcome back to the kitchen table. Do you ever say to yourself…"if only this were different, my life would be better." "If only this season were easier."It’s easy to believe these thoughts. They sneak in when exhaustion sets in, when the demands of motherhood feel overwhelming, when we long for a little more freedom, a little more ease. But the enemy thrives on discontentment. Motherhood is a sacrifice. It will cost you time, energy, and peace of mind. But God placed you in this season for a reason. Yet we’re always waiting for the next season, thinking that’s when life will finally feel whole. But Jesus tells us in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry.” Our hunger for something different, something easier, is really a hunger for him.We have to confront the lie that a change in circumstances will satisfy us. It won’t. Only Jesus will. If we don’t sit with him, we will always feel empty. Today, instead of longing for a different season, let’s choose to fill up on the truth: he is enough, and he is here in this season, too.Learning the Art of Gospel Discipline ConversationsThis 4-week private podcast and workbook course teaches you how to approach discipline with a framework that goes beyond correcting behavior. But scripture reminds us of a greater truth—God is with us, and he is our helper.Bethany shares with us in scripture how God declares himself to be on our side. In Psalm 118:6-7, he stands with us so we have no need to fear. In Psalm 54:4, he is the one who upholds our life. Psalm 59:9-10 reminds us that he is our refuge, the one who goes before us. Isaiah 41:10 assures us that he strengthens and helps us, holding us in his righteous hand. And in John 10:27-30, Jesus promises that nothing can snatch us from him.Over and over, scripture reveals the same truth—God is not distant. He is with us, walking beside us, strengthening and helping us. Where we once believed we were alone, we can replace that lie with the truth: he is our helper, and we can call on him. We are not meant to walk this life by ourselves. He invites us to link arms with him and trust that he will sustain us.Learning the Art of Gospel Discipline ConversationsThis 4-week private podcast and workbook course teaches you how to approach discipline with a framework that goes beyond correcting behavior.
