22.18 Tales of the Jedi Interview with Charles Murray
Tales of the Jedi is a series of six short-form animated fables that visits crucial moments in the lives of two Jedi - Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku - who both choose to leave the Jedi Order before Order 66. While all three of the Ahsoka stories were written by Lucasfilm key creative Dave Filoni, the middle Count Dooku animated short "Choices" was written by Charles Murray and his daughter Élan Murray. Charles also served as director. Sarah Woloski and Tricia Barr talk to Charles Murray about the development of this story. In the process we discovered why he wanted to work on The Clone Wars and offer some insights into his work on the hit-series, for which he wrote the Ahsoka Leaves the Jedi order arc (Season 5) and the Martez sisters arc (Season 7). If you want to connect with Charles Murray on Twitter or Instagram. BE SURE TO CHECK OUT OUR WOMEN OF ANDOR EPISODE! Did you miss our D23 Expo Marvel and Lucasfilm highlights episode last week? 22.17 Women of Andor
After reading Tony Gilroy's interview on StarWars.com where he discusses "The Education of Cassian Andor" as a working title for ANDOR, Tricia Barr and Sarah Woloski explore the many ways the women of the critically-acclaimed show inform the central character. At the end we include a non-spoiler review for Tales of the Jedi, which arrives on Disney+ October 26th. This is must watch for Star Wars fans. We discuss The Direct's article on ANDOR audience demand. The author of the original tweet on the audience demand has since revised his assessment. As his revision still shows ANDOR behind in audience demand, we have left our thoughts in this episode because we believe the show will only get more eyeballs going forward. Star Wars tackles another legacy character with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and delivers Big TIME! Tricia Barr and Sarah Woloski explore the themes of family and identity that are integral to Deborah Chow's storytelling vision for the Disney+ series. Not only are our understandings of foundational characters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker furthered, a diverse cast of characters - Reva, Roken, Haja, and Tala - leave their mark in the galaxy far far away. 22.9 Animation Is The Real Deal
While Fangirls Going Rogue started with a combined love of the Star Wars films, it is undeniable that the animated shows have been a crucial part of our journey with the franchise. When Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse) penned their op-ed in Variety following the year's Oscars slight of animation, it provided a topic near and dear to the team. Teresa Delgado, Sarah Woloski, and Tricia Barr sit down to discuss why animation and film are symbiotic art forms, and why Star Wars proves that point. Stay tuned to the end for an important announcement. Priority Transmission: ILMxLab's Tales From The Galaxy's Edge
Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is a Virtual Reality experience coming to the Downtown Disney® District at the Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim, California on Sunday, November 21, 2021 and running through January 5, 2022. This is a free experience that expands the location of Batuu beyond the confines of Black Spire Outpost. The experience features the character Seezelslak, voiced by Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live, Star Wars Resistance). Seezeslak is an Azumel bartender who runs a cantina in competition with Oga's cantina and isn't nearly as shy. Recently, Sarah Woloski and Tricia Barr attended a Press Conference put on by ILMxLAB where we learned some fun behind-the-scenes tidbits about this experience. In addition to Moynihan, the press conference includes ILMxLab's producer Alyssa Finley and was moderated by Holly Frey of Stuff You Missed in History and Full of Sith podcasts. Even if you can't visit the experience, the panel is informative and their enthusiasm to share how the team built out the virtual world around Black Spire Outpost is really insightful. From Disney Parks: Meta Quest and ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s award-winning immersive entertainment studio, are presenting a special Quest 2 preview of Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge coming to the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort, Nov. 21, 2021 – Jan. 5, 2022. This preview version of ILMxLAB’s virtual reality experience expands the world of Batuu like never before! Once inside the Quest 2 headset, you’ll be immersed within sweeping 360 views of the Star Wars galaxy. The adventure takes place on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, as depicted in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the immersive epic lands at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The story features both new and iconic characters from the Star Wars galaxy. Gameplay was designed for a variety of players – from Star Wars fans to VR gamers – at home on Quest 2. The free experience is available from noon to 8pm daily. For more information visit Disney Parks Blog. BE SURE TO CHECK OUT OUR LATEST EPISODE OF FANGIRLS GOING ROGUE: Why We Love Ted Lasso. Faster and more intense! These words from Star Wars visionary George Lucas have inspired Teresa Delgado, Sarah Woloski, and Tricia Barr to shake things up at Fangirls Going Rogue. Episodes will be shorter and more frequent, with singular topical focus. And they won't all be Star Wars, but we're confident Star Wars will seep into the conversation. This episode harnesses our group passion for Disney Parks as we explore the new adventures that await at Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary. We discuss the new night time shows, Harmonious and Disney Enchantment, food and drink specials, and strategies for finding the right merchandise.
