Ep 6: Bodies & Business
In this episode, Sue and Marsha discuss their thoughts on bodies and business and how our businesses will only grow to the extent that we commit to growing ourselves. They share their thoughts on how businesses grow through collaboration and how important it is to be a real human in our businesses.  In this episode we discuss: 1) Being vulnerable may be scary, yet it will bring the most authentic people into our lives. We are missing the real connections with people because we are not allowing ourselves to be seen or keeping our doors open to connect with others.  2) We need to stop putting the business first, instead focus on building ourselves into the person to bring it to life. People will be able to engage with us and see what we can offer, by truly being ourselves.  3) We cannot say we trust in the universe and spend our time micromanaging it. We have to commit to showing up and then let the universe do it’s magic. “Energy will trump strategy every single time.” Rachel Joy 4) Today we referenced a few other coaches who have impacted us, Craig Seigel, Rachel Joy, Cora-Lynn Hazelwood and Jess Glazer. We both resonate with real people, coaches, and people online who inspire us to be more of ourselves. Ep 7: Learning To Listen Sooner Than Later With Lily Francis
Today we are speaking with an incredible young woman named Lily Francis.  Lily is almost 18  years old and currently in grade 12. Her parents say she has been active since the day she was born. They enrolled her in many activities and gymnastics was her favourite. She did competitive gymnastics until she broke her back in grade 6, almost 7 years ago. Lily fractured the following vertebraeL2, L3, L4 and had stress fractures in L5 and T10.  Knowing she couldn’t compete at the level she previously had competed at due to her injury, she turned to track and field. She tried a variety of events but has landed in competing in the heptathlon, which includes 7 events. To this day, I am applying to universities with hopes of being a varsity athlete. Lily shares her incredible story with us as a young athlete having to work through the physical challenges of rehabilitation while still performing as a top level athlete. In this episode we discuss: 1) People cross our paths that are meant to impact us and support us. Lily seeing her dad go through his own rehab process 6 months before her injury, and his doctor being the one to recognize that she had an injury that needed to be addressed was no accident. 2) Recognizing that fear is a normal part of life, yet the fear of staying still and doing nothing is bigger than the fear of “what if or what could happen” by trying to move forward. 3) Our journey and what we experience on that journey is what makes us who we are and the impact that we are here to create for others. Ep 8: Bodies & Business
In this episode, Sue and Marsha discuss a quote about setting intentions and learning the power of surrendering during the process and how surrendering is a key piece of the puzzle.  The more you control your intentions, the less you are actually living in the energy of intention. As humans we tend to set goals and then micromanage all the details thinking we actually can control how it will all play out.  Living in this manner means we are closing out all other possibilities that things can actually work out differently or even better than we ever imagined.   In this episode we discuss: 1) “Intention without surrender is a fast track to delusion”, Rebecca Campbell.  This is such a powerful quote as we deep dive into the meaning of surrendering to your intentions.   2) Surrender in this aspect means letting go of how this goal can happen.  When we let go of how we create space to be able to let the magic unfold in ways we can’t even imagine.  Holding onto control that we don't have also blocks us from people, opportunities and experiences that are meant to cross our path. 3). Our goals might happen faster than we expect or even days later than our intention, that is micromanaging the details.  Our energy will change, and we can self-sabotage ourselves from actually reaching those goals.  4) When we focus on the goal only, then we will take on situations or work with people that aren’t the right fit only because we are focused on the end goal.  This toxic energy can actually block us from reaching our goals, make it so much harder to achieve, and drain us of all of our energy and that will sabotage us for the next stage of our business. With over 28 years working in the health and fitness industry she is invested in helping women find a balanced approach towards healthy living.  Her training at the Institute for the Psychology of Eating enables her to use a mind body centred approach to nutrition as well as cutting edge eating psychology strategies. Kim believes in a holistic approach to health. Moving beyond the number on the scale and embracing health through mind, body and spirit. She is also a published author in a collaborative book "Owning Your Choices"In this episode we discuss: 1) The power of learning to listen to our emotions, experience them, and how the only way to heal ourselves is to feel the emotions.  We must feel to heal. 2) Learning to accept and love ourselves for who we are, what we have experienced and know that it’s all played a part in who we are today.  Resisting these feelings only keeps them around longer. 3) Our stories can create a massive impact in the lives of others and learning to share our stories can teach others how to light their own flame inside too.  It’s a massive ripple effect that we can all be a part of. Ep 10: Luck Favours The Brave with Jamie & Kim Fitzpatrick
Today we are speaking with Jamie and Kim Fitzpatrick. Jamie and Kim are online health and wellness entrepreneurs, as well as business mentors. Together they are parents to Colby and Tessa. They are big dreamers who are here to make a massive impact in the lives of others regardless of their age or current state of health and fitness. Together they have experienced life from an unhealthy perspective, and they discovered a new way of truly living fully.  Kim and Jamie also operate another business called Legacy by Kim, in honour of her mother, Carol.  As an online boutique headband line being handcrafted in Canada, the prints are limited and produced in small batch exclusive prints.  As part of this work and in honour of the Carol Colby Perras Foundation, Legacy by Kim gifts Legacy headbands to women undergoing chemotherapy and cancer treatment.Individually and collectively they have lived through heavy circumstances and are openly sharing their story to continue to help others.  Jamie and Kim feel that the greatest impact we can have in this world is to share their passion, their vision, and the knowledge that they have gained through their personal experiences to empower others to take personal action towards change. Using optimal health and wellness as a catalyst for change, they are dedicated to helping you live your best life. Together they want to give people the match that lights the fire already within. In this episode we discuss: 1) How their family was impacted by Jamie’s heart attack at 46 years old.  Kim performed CPR for 9 minutes ultimately saving Jamie’s life.  Jamie had a 6% chance of survival, and less than a 1% chance of survival with no brain damage. 2) Through combined personal, physical and emotional traumas we have to learn to feel in order to heal.  Most people want to go directly to healing without feeling and that’s impossible. 3) Using different tools depending on where you are in your journey in your life.  It might mean journaling, rest, recovery, time outside, and making self care a priority as well as self-compassion, and it requires being more curious and subjective to what we need on a daily basis. Don’t be afraid to pivot since everything we receive is data.  We can pivot at any time. Ep 11: Bodies & Business
In this episode, Sue and Marsha discuss the 1 year anniversary of being locked out of our jobs since the beginning of the pandemic.  Sue and Marsha get real as they share their thoughts and perspectives of this past year, and they share a few of their lessons. In this episode we discuss: 1) Sue gets vulnerable and openly talks about her shingles’ scars that are triggered by stress.  Varicella-Zoster Virus - hangs out dormant in our dorsal root ganglia and nerves demand respect.  Sue’s scars and experience could have stopped her from stepping into her new role as a virtual body coach, and this is how she stepped up and created a new business during the pandemic.  2) The power of learning to love ourselves.  It’s not loving ourselves when things are perfect, or we look a certain way, it’s learning to love ourselves for exactly where we are at and knowing that our bodies are more than enough just as they are. 3) Sue and Marsha share the importance of vulnerability and how it has brought the most incredible people and experiences into our lives.  Without the experiences of this past year, our group coaching spaces, this podcast might not exist. Ep 13: Bodies & Business
In this episode, Sue and Marsha discuss the moving parts of their business and how they’re continually working with growing themselves and growing and scaling their businesses. In their typical banter fashion, they share their thoughts on comparison, collaboration and learning to trust yourself and your journey.  In this episode we discuss: 1) Marsha shares her new knowledge and studies of NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming).  We set goals with our conscious brain which is our goal setter (literally only 1% of our brain) and the goal getter is learning how to reprogram our thoughts, which is our subconscious brain. This study includes Time Techniques, EFT, Hypnosis and Success Coaching.  2) One of the first principles of NLP is living at Cause instead of Effect.  This is the power of learning how to live at cause, which means we are at cause for everything that happens in our life.  We always have a choice in how we respond. 3) Following what we feel called to do and now letting ourselves get stuck in the How or the Why.  We highlight the programs we are both implementing and integrating in our businesses this year, and so much of it comes from trusting ourselves and the direction we are both taking our businesses.Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 14: Finding My Voice To Heal Generations with Marisa Lupo
Today we are speaking with Divorced Mom’s Coach, Marisa Lupo.  Marisa is a certified life coach who has mastered strategies that empower women in her private practice to cultivate an authentic life overflowing with love, meaning, and passion. After having checked all the boxes that she thought were going to lead her to the happiness she craved, something deep within her was still missing. Purpose emerged through her most difficult time; an entangled divorce with two children, a very opinionated Italian family, without much support from those closest to her.   She developed the tools and strategies to untie the knots of divorce that bound her and started living a life of freedom.  In her coaching she guides women through untying the knots of divorce and teaches them how to emerge into their highest self.  In this episode we discuss: 1) Learning to honour and find your voice by unpacking your story, and when you learn how to do this you can then stand in a place of truth and be able to express that in the most authentic way possible. 2) Marisa’s experience in the plant medicine ceremony (Ayahuasca), and how this experience helped her to connect to her higher consciousness and body again.  This experience further opened up her heart center and grounded her voice and message to teach and encourage women to no longer be trapped and silent. 3) Releasing the shame, disappointment and guilt from others because our story works out differently than they planned.  Our story is up to us to live out and Marisa shares her journey of learning to let go of these emotions in order to fully live into her truth to then create the impact she is here to make. Ep 15: One Lung One Mission with George Wang
Today we are speaking with Executive Coach and Sales Trainer, George Wang.  Coach George Wang is a Board Certified Executive Coach, Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and Certified Hypnotherapist. Before the age of 15, Coach George Wang was just a normal kid from the 90’s playing Nintendo 64 and shooting basketball with friends when one day he was suddenly diagnosed with a rare kidney disease with an average of 10 years before full kidney failure. This led to another discovery of a large tumor on his right lung which was surgically removed along with two-thirds of his lung. With the outpouring of love from friends and family during this traumatic time, Coach George learned the value of human connections and developed a belief that life was all about the connections we make with other human beings. This led him on a path of non-stop learning. Over the past 20 years, Coach George has dedicated his life to studying every method of human behavior science he could get his hands on, which has led to not only his own personal success, but to the success of his clients as well. Today, Coach George helps entrepreneurs, business owners, and corporate executives to connect with, market to, sell, and serve their customers in an ethical manner using psychological behavioral principles. He believes that business should always be win-win, and that the customer should win more. This is how business is done in its truest and most ethical form.In this episode we discuss: 1) Through George’s illness and recovery from a young age, he learned the value of connection and relationships, and this was an integral part of his focus in his professional career.  2) How to sell authentically by focusing on what your client needs.  Sales isn't about being pushy. It is about offering your client the solutions you have available and always come from a space of giving value. 3) George’s experience in NLP and how it transformed his life.  Business and sales tend to have a negative connotation when it actually is what unites us all.  Sales, done properly actually unifies us as humans and allows us to care for one another.  George shares so many incredible examples of this during the show. Ep 17: Reclaiming My Life with Shannon Moyer-Szemenyei
Today we are speaking with Holistic Counsellor and Author, Shannon Moyer-Szemenyei.  Shannon is a Leader. Wife. Mother. Friend. Poet. Mentor. Human. She is a believer in fundamental rights, standing up for oneself, owning your truth and being a kind and compassionate human being, leaving a positive impact wherever possible. Shannon lives with her family in London, Ontario and, when not writing or nurturing others, you can find her at the hockey rink or horse barn with her boys, or cuddled on the couch with her rescue dog, Berney.  In this episode, we discuss: 1 - Learning how to commit to our healing and using our voice to help others.  Being quiet and hiding in our stories doesn’t serve anyone. This is a punishment to ourselves. 2 - What does owning your truth mean, and how our own mental health and healing was far more important than the discomfort of others. When we turn the inner dialogue off to protect others, we stop listening to our own intuition and voice. 3 - Trauma is relative to your own individual experience in life as a human being. Shannon speaks openly about how trauma impacts and affects our brain and how we then process those pieces. We have to deal with the root causes of our trauma in order to move through it. 4 - There can be beauty in the breakdown when we allow ourselves to feel the emotions to heal and then use those lessons in our life by paying it forward to others.    Connect with Shannon: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/moyer_and_co Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/moyerandco Website: www.moyerandco.com Email: hello@moyerandco.comFollow Shannon’s podcast: The Morning Ish Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-morning-ish-podcast/id1534738720 Working with Shannon: Shannon holds space during counselling sessions that are rooted in meditation, intuitive writing, journaling and art. Ep 18: Bodies & Business
In this episode, Sue and Marsha discuss the current state of our lives and the perpetual anxiety loop that we are easily finding ourselves in during this stage of the pandemic, especially in Ontario, Canada.  They are being real and honest with you today as they both share the signs, the feelings, and ways that they are continually identifying and working through the feelings. You are always your business, so the only way to bring your best self to your life and your business, is to work through the emotions and prioritize self-care practices to fill your cup first.  In this episode we discuss: 1) Sue shares her experiences of the anxiety loop, leaving a job location, embracing change and recognizing the signs and feelings of anxiety.  Sue also shares how Incredibly calm she now feels on her Sunday nights! 2) Marsha shares her lessons from her NLP immersion and how important it is to recognize our thoughts and how our bodies hold onto the stress and the way to change this comes from changing our thoughts at the level of the subconscious mind. In order to change our circumstances we actually have to tap into the resources and tools we all have available. 3) Together they explain how our bodies work hard to process and release anxiety even if nothing actually happened or was wrong.  Anxiety is something that builds in our bodies and eventually our bodies work to find a way to release it, and typically not in a productive manner. 4) Sue and Marsha share their upcoming offers that they have to help people with their anxiety, stress and how to do the work to change their circumstances and ultimately their stories. Ep 21: Turning Pain Into Purpose with Natalie James
Today we are speaking with Entrepreneur, 3x Small Business Owner, Marketing & Communications Strategist, Content Creator & Podcast Host, Natalie James. Natalie is a wife, mom of three, entrepreneur, speaker, writer, and podcast host with a passion for empowering women to help them find joy and purpose in all areas of life and business. For 20+ years, Natalie gained valuable experience throughout a fascinating career in politics and not-for-profit. Throughout this time, she felt most inspired by female entrepreneurs' stories, for their sense of adventure and willingness to take risks.  Feeling a strong desire to make a change, Natalie set out to take a detour and left her career to carve her own path. This journey hasn't been easy, but Natalie is no stranger to adversity. Losing her father at the age of thirteen in a tragic accident, in addition to her own personal struggle with a physical deformity, Natalie has taken her pain and turned it into a passion for helping others. After spending most of her life uncomfortable in her own skin, she decided to accept who she was and help other women and girls feel the same confidence by harnessing their story and channeling their most genuine purpose.  Natalie's passionate story of perseverance and resilience has been featured in numerous podcasts, publications such as HELLO Canada!, Forbes, The Toronto Sun, NL Women's Magazine and soon through her own podcast and co-authored book. In this episode, we discuss: 1) The more time we spend hiding our shame from the world, the more we are feeding it and when we feed it we keep ourselves stuck from the people, opportunities and experiences that are available for us. 2) Our stories can shape and mold us into resilient humans who can in turn share those lessons to impact others. It is incredibly empowering to turn our pain into our purpose. 3) Learning to release control, especially when life feels incredibly out of control, is so powerful. This is how we can use our energy to create impactful change in our life. This is how we step into the space to impact and support others.    Connect with Natalie:Website: www.imnataliejames.comInstagram: Pivot & Polish Podcast https://www.instagram.com/pivotandpolish Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/im.nataliejames Email: natalie_nej@yahoo.caListen to Natalie’s Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-pivot-polish-podcast/id1561611076 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 23: Tuning In vs Pushing Through with Annette Smith
Today we are speaking with Annette Smith.  Annette is the CEO and Founder of Lip Service Beauty.  A few years back Annette endured a grand mal seizure which began a journey of prioritizing her health. After several dramatic life changes, Annette found herself back in a place where her health declined and learned a valuable lesson around getting ahead of your health versus waiting until something happens to address the issue. Annette owns her own plant based beauty company, is a wellness advocate and is a proud member of the 5am club, prioritizing her own self care on a daily basis. By building this practice, Annette has learned to gain control of her health, function more optimally and be a better human.    In this episode, we discuss: 1) Self care is giving the world the best of you; not what's left of you. As mom’s, entrepreneurs, business women, we tend to give ourselves what is left over and that means next to nothing. Annette was a workaholic and her grand mal seizure completely caught her by surprise.    2) It is impossible to give to others without giving to yourself first. If you haven’t had boundaries in place before, then this is an important place to start, and a place where you will experience resistance from others because your lack of boundaries has served them. 3) Annette’s story prompted her to create her own plant based beauty product company as she was searching for products that were safe to use.  Over this past year especially during the pandemic, Annette re-learned that working through challenges, prioritizing self care, and asking for support has helped her continue to grow her business this past year.   Connect with Annette:Website: https://www.lipservicebeauty.caFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/LipServiceEtsyBeauty Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lipservice_beauty/ Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@lipservicebeauty Email: annette@lipservicebeauty.ca Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 24: From Surviving To Leading with Romi Hancock
Today we are speaking with Romi Hancock. Romi is the author of “She Believed She Could & She Did”.  Romi went from being in foster care at 13, trafficked at 15 , escaping, 2 kids before 18 , widowed at 24 , with only seventh grade education.  She decided at 25 that she was going to make something out of her life and have purpose. She has made it to the top 1% of real estate brokers nationwide while running a successful coaching practice. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Romi’s life experience of escaping all the odds and not letting her story define her.  She completely turned her experiences into lessons to share with and impact others.     2) Romi shares her very spiritual journey of holding onto and keeping faith even when it all seems impossible.  Romi shared, “if praying is us speaking to God, then intuition is God speaking to us.”  3) We all have the tools, the magic comes when we learn how to unlock the tools that we have.  Also learning to recognize that changing our state, unlocking and using our gifts/tools, allows us to make the impact that we are here to make.    Connect with Romi:Website: https://www.Romihancock.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/Romihancock Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/Romihancock Email: Romihancock@gmail.com Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 25: A Book Collaboration Project
In this episode, Sue and Marsha talk about the importance of sharing our stories and how this podcast has allowed us to open more doors for more people to share their body stories and experiences with others.  In sharing our stories it allows us to connect with each other and allows us to be seen.  Today they are openly discussing how their friendship was inspired through the work of bodies and stories, and that led to the birth of this podcast.  They are excited to share with everyone about their upcoming collaborative book launch and how important it is to open and normalize the communication of bodies and stories. This opportunity is open to men, women and so many different stories.   We are so excited to bring this vision to life! In this episode we discuss: 1) Our bodies are telling us stories every single day.  When we choose not to listen to it or tune in, we allow things to grow, fester and change the meaning.  2) How mental health is whole body health and we need to open the doors to this topic of conversation. The more we open the doors for communication, the more we can keep the doors open for others. 3) Supportive energy comes from relating to others through our stories and our bodies. This collaborative book project is so special because you are not sharing your story alone.  Join the Every Body Holds a Story Facebook Group to be the first to hear about the launch details.  If you are an absolute yes and want one of the limited spots reach out to connect :https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 26: Disrupting The Norm with Rose Finlay
Today we are speaking with Disability Rights Advocate and Inclusive Business Solutions Specialist, Rose Finlay.  After a catastrophic injury at the age of seventeen that left her a quadriplegic, Rose Finlay has continued to push the boundaries of societal norms and expectations surrounding disability. A mama to three little dudes and a successful entrepreneur and disability advocate, her unstoppable spirit and ferociously positive outlook inspire her to chase her lifelong goals despite the challenges of being a quadriplegic and recovering from an autoimmune condition. Rose is an accessibility consultant by day, and she is eager to help bridge the gaps between disabled communities and equal access to opportunity. In this episode, we discuss: 1)  Rose shares her experience of having a catastrophic injury at the age of seventeen that left her a quadriplegic.  She vividly shares what her life was like during the early days in her recovery into today, and how her mindset and personal development work has been critical to where she is today. 2) Rose explains how her disability affords them a very different perspective on life. It is teaching them to value differences, it is teaching them empathy and an understanding of differences between people. Rose believes that her children will contribute to the world and make an impact just through the experiences they have and will continue to live. 3) Rose embodies her story and truly is a Disability Rights Advocate and Inclusive Business Solutions Specialist as she continues to pay it forward and bridge the gaps between disabled communities to provide equal access to opportunity.   Connect with Rose:Email: wheelchair1derwoman@gmail.com Website: www.rosefinlay.caInstagram: https://instagram.com/wheelchair_1derwoman Every Body Holds A Story Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 27: Bodies & Business
In this episode, Sue and Marsha talk about the importance of learning to listen to what you need, especially while listening to our bodies.  From migraines to fatigue, to resting and no longer pushing our bodies when it needs more rest, we discuss learning to listen.  Our bodies are always talking to us and it is our job and responsibility to listen.  Today we talk about guilt, investing in ourselves and how to re-write or see that story differently.  *Warning: Sue swears a bit. In this episode we discuss: 1) Guilt is one of the top things that we experience as women, mothers, entrepreneurs, because it is a self imposed emotion that we tend to carry because we “aren't meeting the expectations we have set for ourselves”.  Guilt is so intertwined with money and we chat about how we push ourselves because we are not wanting to show up because of money as well.  2) The guilt piece is not helping us.  We discuss how guilt, money and effort is always a story that we are re-writing.  Who doesn't have a guilt story attached with money? We aren’t meant to have it all figured out in the beginning, we are meant to go first and our actions open up the doors where the universe meets and matches us with more opportunities. 3) We discuss how we have both gone through the growth process of investing in ourselves and what that has created in our lives now.  Learning to invest in our growth many years ago has allowed us to strengthen ourselves in our business, minds, energy and increase the tools in our toolbox. 4) We discuss the applications for the upcoming Every Body Holds a Story Collaborative book and what it looks like to invest in yourself and not having a clue of where it is going to go or the doors that it will open up in the future. Ep 28: Blowing It Up To Start Over with Craig Stanland
Today we are speaking with Reinvention Architect, Craig Stanland.  After hitting rock bottom, Craig was forced to make a choice: give up or rebuild. He thought he had "it all" until he lost sight of what's truly important and made the worst decision of his life, losing everything along the way, including his own self-worth. Through the painful, terrifying process of starting over, Craig ultimately discovered that when you have nothing, anything is possible.  Today, Craig is an author, speaker, and Reinvention Architect. He specializes in working with people who want to reinvent themselves so they can create the extraordinary lives they've always wanted. He is celebrating the release of his upcoming book, “Blank Canvas - How I Recreated My Life”, released on May 25th, 2021 and hit Bestseller on Amazon. In this episode we discuss: 1) The difference between internal and external fulfillment. External fulfillment comes from outside of us and chasing monetary items or status in order to feel that fulfillment. Internal fulfillment comes from inside of ourselves. This was one of the most powerful lessons that Craig learned during his time in federal prison.  2) Sometimes our life has to blow up in order to create the space to start over.  We have to know one side of the coin before we can know the other side. We have to know dark to know light and sadness to know happiness.  We choose what we focus on and this is how we learn to re-write the story. 3) The power of shame and how it stops us from living, showing up and allowing ourselves to be seen. Craig shares how he worked through the shame up to the point of planning his suicide. 4) Embracing vulnerability to learning our value and worth is the path to creating freedom.  When we are being vulnerable we are giving others the permission to be vulnerable too.  It can also lead us to the most incredible relationships and people who are meant to make a difference or an impact in our lives. We must be open and willing to receive this support from others.  Connect with CraigWebsite: www.craigstanland.comEmail: craig@craigstanland.comLinkedin: www.linkedin.com/in/craigstanland Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cstanland Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/craig_stanland/ Craig’s TEDx Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrkG9VQzqIo Link to Craig’s New Book: https://geni.us/LifeafterPrison Every Body Holds A Story Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 29: Bodies & Business - Reel Rants (part 1)
In this episode, Sue and Marsha talk about the reels and how Reels are blowing up Instagram and how it is forcing us to speak clearly on our business in 15-30 second increments or less.  They also discussed the concepts of resilience, perspective, personal energy and how the work is truly never done.  In this episode we discuss: 1) Sue’s dirt pile reel that was 300K views in early July and now is crossing the 3.5 million views in only a few weeks.  The unpredictability of reels is crazy, and so important to use for your business.  2) The mindset, and perspective piece of how some entrepreneurs can look at this time in our society, who have been hit hard by the pandemic and how they’re still showing up strong and resilient.  Marsha shared the definition of resiliency from Robert Pardi, “Resilience is where our purpose, personal power and perspective connect”, and truthfully these pieces affect how we respond to everything in our lives. 3) The energy that we are responsible for bringing into our lives and how it is up to us to take responsibility for our own energy.  We are also able to choose who we surround ourselves with and how their energy literally can positively or negatively affect us all day long.Join the Every Body Holds a Story Facebook Group to be the first to hear about the launch details.  If you are an absolute yes and want one of the limited spots reach out to connect :https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Application for Every Body Holds a Story Collaborative Bookhttps://www.marshavanw.com/assessments/2147512206 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Connect with Danielle Siroen at Inspirations Beauty Clinic: www.inspirationsbeautyclinic.com Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 30: We Are Human Beings Not Human Doings with Meghan Weir
Today we are speaking with Spiritual Success Coach, Meghan Weir.  Meghan is a highly trained, trauma-informed Life & Success Coach,  NLP, EFT and T.I.M.E Techniques Practitioner, Hypnotherapist and Retreat Leader, and retired Addiction’s Nurse. She is the founder of Soul Alchemy, focussing on embodiment practices creating a transformational container using ancient and modern healing tools and self-inquiry. She guides her clients in Transforming their Pain into their Soul's Purpose and Transcend by sharing their Innate Gifts with the worldIn this episode we discuss: 1) The commitment required to work through all of the challenges, trauma and learning how to listen to the callings, releasing the shame or grief of our stories, and knowing this is a lifetime journey of work. Meghan has taken all of these tools, put them into practice into her own life, and now embodies these tools to support her clients. 2) Growth can bring so much loss, sadness, guilt and grief, yet it is also the most beautiful experience of expansion.  The more we follow this growth and stay in alignment with our thoughts, values and beliefs, the more expansion and opportunities we will experience. 3) We are afraid to embrace our light, because we are afraid of feeling uncertain. Our darkness is what we know to be true. It is far easier (we believe) to go back to what we know as opposed to what we don’t know. Even if that doesn't serve us.  Our addictions and disorders are a feeling of certainty even if it isn't what we know is best for us. 4) The difference between self-sabotage and self-protection. These terms come up so many times in our lives even back to childhood, expressing our emotions, and all of this requires a lot of unlearning.  Connect with MeghanWebsite: https://www.Meghan-weir.comEmail: love@meghan-weir.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/meghan.weir.3 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_meghanweir_/ Every Body Holds A Story Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 31: Answering Your Questions About The Book
In this episode, Sue and Marsha talk about the most common questions they’re receiving about the collaborative book project.  This episode also talks about how to be aware of mindset, energies or thoughts that aren't serving you, and how to break the pattern and commit to doing the opposite.  That is how to create change in our lives.  In this episode we discuss: 1) Sue shares how important it is to leave our stories to the earth, and how by sharing them with others, we are practicing vulnerability which will lead to the connections that we are looking to create in our lives.  2) Marsha shares some thoughts on being an author in a collaborative book and a solo book author and how they both serve different purposes and audiences.  3) They both touch on the power and importance of collaboration as opposed to comparison. Comparison and envy are truly the lowest vibrations and literally keep us stuck in that space and energy.Join the Every Body Holds a Story Facebook Group to be the first to hear about the launch details.  If you are an absolute yes and want one of the limited spots reach out to connect :https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Application for Every Body Holds a Story Collaborative Bookhttps://www.marshavanw.com/assessments/2147512206 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 32: The Gift Of Sharing Your Story (Reel Rants Part 2)
In this episode, Sue and Marsha talk about the reels and how reels are blowing up Instagram and how it is forcing us to speak clearly on our business in 15-30 second increments or less.   They also discussed the concepts of gifts, opening up doors of opportunities, how the work is truly never done and how tapping into vulnerability allows us to continue to build our courage.  In this episode we discuss: 1) Sue’s dirt pile reel that was 300K views in early July and now is crossing the 3.7 million views in only a few weeks.  The unpredictability of reels is crazy, and so important to use for your business. It is also an experience of being non-attached to the outcomes of the work, social media posts, videos and reels that we are putting out in the world.  We have no idea what will connect with people. 2) They both talk about how we have to decide to walk through the doors in front of us and actually close the doors behind us.  When we put one foot in the door in front of us and in the one behind us, we literally get stuck in both doors and go nowhere. We spend so long in the hallways, waiting, thinking and overthinking and then we actually go nowhere.  3) Marsha shares her thoughts on gifts and how when we can learn to share the gifts from our stories, and the impact that they can create for others, it literally changes everything. We can shift and change our shame stories when we decide to change the meanings of our stories and by calling our shame stories a gift it changes the meaning of our stories. 4) They both shared how powerful it is to share in a collaborative space as we are learning how to embrace vulnerability and building our courage. Ep 33: Wake Up Your Warrior with Christine Coen
Today we are speaking with Registered Dietitian, Fitness Professional, Christine Coen.  Over the last 10 years as a NYC based Registered Dietitian & fitness professional, Christine has transformed her practice from a traditional weight loss & aesthetic focus into a convergence of the powerful impact of movement & nutrition on mental health.  Christine’s own battle & eventual overcoming of depression, anxiety, & emotional eating sparked this change, as movement became her “antidepressant” and was a major catalyst in her recovery.   Today, Christine coaches women to take empowered action & move their body every day to relieve symptoms of anxiety & depression while expanding their capacity to enjoy life!  Her non-diet approach to health, where weight loss focus is actually put on the back-burner, has surprisingly increased the success her clients have in feeling their best- mentally & physically. Wake Up Your Warrior, her special daily 22 Minute Warrior Workout Program is available to anyone who wants to join a virtual community of people dedicated to taking their life back while discovering a deeper meaning for improving their wellbeing.  Come sweat with us!In this episode we discuss: 1) The emotions of anxiety, depression and then the cycle of using food to manage her emotions and energy.  The way Christine looked at food at that time was “bad foods, good foods” and this only continued the spiral of anxiety and depression. 2) Hiding these emotions only kept her feeling shame for her “deep dark hole” which fed the feelings of hopelessness and despair.  After attending a yoga class, she connected movement and mental health and this started a spark in her.  The spark didn’t last and she learned that some movement helped her to continue to feel better and she continued to rinse and repeat this process.  3) This perpetual cycle was due to a continuous lack of trust between her mind and body.  Now Christine’s belief and understanding is that the mind and body are always communicating with each other and her job is to listen to the signals for what her body needs.  4) There’s a current epidemic of people not knowing how to listen to or tune into what our body is asking us for.  Christine focuses on the term movement and moving intuitively instead of the word exercise, because it is the tiny habits that matter every single day that add up. Christine shared her thoughts on how we pre-fail ourselves before we even give ourselves a chance.  Connect with ChristineWebsite: https://www.wakeupyourwarrior.comEmail: ccnutrifit1@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/christine.coen/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wakeupyourwarrior/ Every Body Holds A Story Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 34: The Dots Always Connect
In this episode, Sue and Marsha talk about the power of collaboration, connection, celebrations and how we can always be surprised at how the dots connect when we look at life in reverse.  In this episode we discuss: 1) The power of collaboration and celebration and how we can all create results so much faster by working together. 2) Honouring where the dots connected in the past and how the people in our life now, and the opportunities we have wouldn’t be a possibility if we didn't live those past experiences. Both Marsha and Sue reflect on their past businesses and how they both spent time in teaching others in classroom settings.  3) Marsha shares a message from her grandpa, “make decisions based on whether or not we would regret not saying yes or missing the opportunity”, and she uses this to make most of her decisions.  This is the experience of no attachment to the results. 4) This is the second last week to join Every Body Holds A Story Collaborative Book, so if you are feeling called to learn how to share your story and become a published author, connect in the facebook group, link is below or fill out the application.  Payment plans are available.Join the Every Body Holds a Story Facebook Group to be the first to hear about the launch details.  If you are an absolute yes and want one of the limited spots reach out to connect :https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Sue’s podcast recording on The Great Canadian Woman Podcasthttps://shespeakspodcast.ca/071-every-body-holds-a-story-with-sue-rhue Application for Every Body Holds a Story Collaborative Bookhttps://www.marshavanw.com/assessments/2147512206 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739

Ep 35: Learning To Live with Katie DePaola
Today we are speaking with the Founder of Inner Glow Circle and Author Katie DePaola. Katie  is the author of At Least You Look Good: Learning to Glow Through What You Go Through and the founder of Inner Glow Circle, a life coaching school, which has grown into a globally recognized professional training and certification program. Through Inner Glow Circle, Katie built the first all women, all online ICF Accredited Coach Training course, helping thousands of women start businesses of their own. In her #1 bestselling book, “At Least You Look Good”,  Katie shares her most vulnerable and often funny reflections on how to deal with the hardest parts of life—and her best advice for women who want to “glow through what they go through.”  Katie is a fierce Mental Health Advocate, who grew her business from a self-funded startup to a million-dollar business. She has been featured in TIME, Entrepreneur and Forbes, as well as over 50 podcasts. She serves on the board of Bo’s Effort, a foundation in memory of her late brother Bo.In this episode we discuss: 1) Katie shared her thoughts and perspective on seeing a gap in the coaching industry because she noticed so many women were trying to build a business, but weren’t able to find clients to build their business. 2) When we are sick it becomes very easy for the sickness to become part of our identity and it requires a shift in perspective and mindset to search for answers and choose a different identity.  3) How we make so many assumptions about others when we don’t have enough information. We are making quick judgements based on what we see or what we think we see in their lives on social media. 4) How people can live identical lives yet have completely different experiences all based on our perspective and mindset.  We can choose what we see and that shift can change our entire experience.  Connect with KatieWebsite: https://www.innerglowcircle.com/becomeacoach/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itskatiedepaola/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/innerglowcircle/ Email: katie@innerglowcircle.comEvery Body Holds A Story Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/582412896496298 Follow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/everybodyholdsastory Tune into Sue’s podcast, Love Your Cells: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-your-cells-podcast/id1478170164 Tune into Marsha’s podcast, Own Your Choices Own Your Life:https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/own-your-choices-own-your-life/id1445904739
