“What is the gospel?” Responses continuously return to an inward-looking faith instead of a faith that clings externally to the astonishing mercy of Christ Jesus, who took the sin of the world into Himself on the cross and breathed out His life for and onto His creation.  In this act of sacrifice, Jesus is indeed the sacrificial Lamb who takes away the sin of the world. Through His resurrection, Jesus Christ has given His promise of eternal life in Him.

Jesus is the forgiveness of our sins, Jesus is the forgiveness for your sins, Jesus is the forgiveness for all sins, period.  What does it mean for Him to be our propitiation?  No, really . . . what does it mean?  Craig and Troy untangle the truth of God's word on commandments and sin and separate it from the false understanding.   Support 1517 Podcast Network 1517 Podcasts 1517 on Youtube 1517 Podcast Network on Apple Podcasts 1517 Events Schedule 1517 Academy - Free Theological Education What’s New from 1517: Bible in One Year with Chad Bird Broken Bonds: A Novel of the Reformation, Book 1 of 2 by Amy Mantravadi Junk Drawer Jesus By Matt Popovits More from the hosts: Troy Neujahr  Craig Donofrio

Craig and Troy open up a new book of the Bible, the epistle of 1 John.  John has packed so much goodness into this first chapter.  In this chapter we learn of being in the light, we learn of being in God's truth, and we learn that even our sin need not trouble us if we are in Christ Jesus. Craig and Troy return to the little book of Jude, where Jude reminds us of God's authority, ability to judge absolutely. The false teachers (or are they just false members?) that have infiltrated the church spread their demonic blasphemies, defile own bodies, and refuse to live under the authority of God's word and God's ministers. And eternal judgment awaits. This little book is full of deep thoughts and emphasizes a call to sound doctrine. Craig and Troy dig into the book of Jude to find the riches of Jude's writings, the warnings against false teachings and false teachers, and the call to the faith.
