There's another epidemic that needs our attention- Systemic Racism. It's an obstacle to cure, and as homeopaths, we have to look at ourselves individually, and also help heal the collective.  I'm giving over my regular Aphorism Friday spot to this extremely important topic.  Listen to me, and then head over to Brene Brown's June 10th podcast interview with Austin Channing-Brown, author of I'm Still Here, Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness. I've wanted to interview the spouse of a homeopath for awhile, and it finally dawned on me... I had one in my own home!  In this behind the scenes interview, Mr. Kelly Callahan shares his experience of being married to a homeopath (me!). Mr. Callahan and I talk homeopathy and complexity and life and work everyday, which might be unique to us, but maybe not. In anycase, we decamped to our deck on a balmy March Sunday afternoon in Maine and recorded one of our conversations to share with you.  Maybe it's what it's like to be married to a homeopath...but maybe it's more about what it's like to be married to THIS homeopath, and THIS consultant, biker, musician, and friend.  We had fun... hope you do too.

My guest, Carol Boyce, is a British homeopath, teacher, activist, filmmaker, and then some. She's been traveling around the world on behalf of homeopathy since graduating in 1985.  Carol speaks with me today about the recent attacks on homeopathy and homeopaths in the UK, and where it call started.  Check out her new organization, Homeopathy International : "..we support other international organisations in their fight to retain patient access to homeopathic medicine. We enable patients, who want to exercise their right to choose homeopathy, to find well-trained homeopaths. We provide the public with the facts about homeopathy so they can understand its potential as a viable alternative, and explain the ongoing threat at work to prevent patient access to this safe, effective, sustainable system of medicine."  Read her articles about the efforts against homeopathy here:  Blog about the Science and Technology Committee hearings and ratification report https://vonsyhomeopathy.wordpress.com Deconstruction and explanation of the Shang et al paper that was the first overt attempt to discredit homeopathy on the placebo only argument – it is still quoted today. https://www.hri-research.org/resources/homeopathy-the-debate/the-lancet-paper-by-shang-et-al/ See excerpts of her film here:  http://www.somethingtosayproductions.com/

Join me on a walk for this intercurrent episode (literally... I recorded this while on a walk!) as I muse about the four stages of learning:  unconscious incompetence conscious incompetence conscious competence unconscious competence   Like my previous episodes on case audits, this was sparked by reaching another boundary of my own competence in practice. I find this trajectory of learning to be helpful, as I consider the steps I can take to expand my competence, and ultimately my success with clients.

In this intercurrent episode, Kelly digs into the question of whether Hahnemann approved of using nosodes. There are references in The Organon and Chronic Diseases that leave the reader wondering.  Diving into the archives Kelly uncovered a fascinating discussion by busy homeopaths of yesteryear, who grappled with this question themselves.  Listen along as they dive into related philosophy of isopathy, antidoting, and tackling the greater miasm.
