Show cover of Whine with HR

Whine with HR

Whine with HR is hosted by Juls and Trish, two lawyers and HR professionals with 15+ years of experience, who figure it’s better to laugh at the craziness that is HR than to cry about it. In each episode, Juls and Trish will discuss the wine of the day that they’re drinking and the “whine” of the day that they’re thinking (about). Part comedy, part therapy, part helpful solutions. Join us with your beverage of choice. In your pajamas. From your couch.

It's part of the human experience that we tend to hate having uncomfortable or difficult conversations. In fact, many of us will go to great lengths to avoid any conversation that even hints at being awkward or uncomfortable. Unfortunately, as HR professionals and managers, it is part of our job to have such conversations. In this episode, we'll give tips and tricks for making those conversations a little bit easier to manage. The "Feed Forward" method we discussed during this episode was created by Marshall Goldsmith. You can read more about it at his website: https://marshallgoldsmith.com/articles/try-feedforward-instead-feedback/. We also shared the CHANGE method with you. For reference, here it is: C= Have a CONVERSATION. H=Be HUMAN. A = ADVISE the employee of the problem. N = NAME the specific behaviors that need to change. G=GIVE the employee a chance to respond. E = Set EXPECTATIONS moving forward. And don't forget to DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT! We so appreciate you joining us for this episode of Whine with HR!
