Women hold only 14% of executive positions in STEM industries, and only 8% of STEM CEOs are women. Research shows that having women in leadership positions is crucial for promoting gender equality and advancing diversity and inclusion in STEM fields. It is also important for innovation and our ability to build more lucrative businesses. The low number of women in leadership positions is a concern for rising talent and today we want to provide you with the right approach to ensure you don’t fall off the career ladder due to lack of a leadership toolkit.    I am excited to interview Priyanka Shinde today to help you accelerate your leadership growth in Tech. Priyanka is a seasoned Silicon Valley tech leader with over 20 years experience in engineering, product management, and program management. She has previously worked at tech giants like Meta and startups like Cruise where she led highly technical teams launch cutting-edge products in the field of Autonomous Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), and Advertising Tech. She received her MBA from North Carolina State University and Masters in Computer Science from Arizona State University. MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS SPECIAL From being diagnosed with Bipolar disorder to successfully defending her thesis during a global pandemic, Kimberly Fiock (Feeock) has set an example for what’s possible when you find ways to manage your mental health. Kimberly has a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology from UT Dallas and a Master of Science in Pathology from the University of Iowa. She is currently pursing PhD in Experimental Pathology at the University of Iowa. She works as a graduate assistant for the Iowa NeuroBank Core, a brain tissue and stem cell repository at the University of Iowa. She also serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, where she advocates and supports abused and neglected children as they navigate the foster care system.  She runs an interesting IG account called thepathphd to talk all things pathology and mental health.  In this episode, we will discuss Kimberly’s STEM story and how she thinks we can improve and manage our mental health in STEM.

In this episode, I interviewed Chiung-Wei is a PhD chemistry student, a science blogger and a mom of two.  She was born and raised in Taiwan where she completed her BS and MS in chemistry.    Being a first generation immigrant, she strives to use her voice to help the world see a holistic side of a scientist who writes about science and family, and supports women through coaching. In this episode , I got to interview Anna Ampaw, a PhD student, an emerging SciCommer and a passionate educator.  She strives to share my knowledge and try to eliminate the idea of science being difficult. Growing up in different areas of Canada, she was usually one of the only few "dark-skinned" females in my classes, and then when she got into a science program in university, she saw the same thing. In this episode, I interview Miss America 2020 Camille Schrier who holds two degrees from Virginia Tech: Biochemistry and Systems Biology, is pursuing her Doctor of Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University.  You know her from her showcase of the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide for her talent presentation.  A First time Miss America competitor, won $73,675 in scholarship assistance through Miss America in 2019. Camille lives with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.  Camille's year of service is dedicated to reducing opioid abuse, medication errors, and the associated mortality of both by educating across communities and demographics, from pediatrics to geriatrics.
