Butterfly Giselle Grace Boucher was born on June 2, 1979 in Adelaide, Australia, and is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. She began playing bass guitar at age 15 in her sister Becca Boucher’s Brisbane band Eat the Menu, later renamed The Mercy Bells, which released the album Whoosh in 1996. After the group’s brief stint with Polydor and a move to Nashville, Boucher returned to solo work and released her debut album Flutterby on October 7, 2003 through Universal and A&M, a project she co-produced in Nashville. Flutterby entered the top 40 of Billboard’s Top Heatseekers and spawned the singles “I Can't Make Me” and “Another White Dash”. In 2009, she released Scary Fragile, following a label dispute, supported by the single “Gun for a Tongue”. Boucher also joined the Ten Out of Tenn collective and released her self-titled album Butterfly Boucher in 2012. Her tracks were featured in television series including Grey’s Anatomy (featuring “A Bitter Song”) and the film Shrek 2 (covering “Changes” with David Bowie).
