Boris Björn Bagger was a German guitarist, music educator, composer, arranger, and conductor who lived from 1955 to 2024. Born in Karlsruhe, Germany, he studied musicology at the music academies of Karlsruhe and Freiburg. He became a noted chamber musician, performing with artists such as viola player Tabea Zimmermann and cellist Martin Ostertag, and appeared with various orchestras including the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and the Estonian State Symphony Orchestra. His recordings included a world premiere recording of Paganini's Barucaba Variations for violin and guitar, alongside twenty-five other CD releases. Throughout his career, Bagger premiered forty musical compositions, arranged over three hundred works for the guitar, and published over two hundred music editions. From 1990, he taught guitar, chamber music, and orchestral studies as a professor at the State University of Music Karlsruhe. His honors included the 1994 Music Prize of the Republic of Estonia, a prize in the 2000 Start up competition for his musician database on CD-ROM, and the Estonian Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana in 2002. Bagger died in 2024.
