Sheriff was a Canadian rock band formed in 1979 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and consisted of vocalist Freddy Curci, guitarist Steve DeMarchi, keyboardist Arnold Lanni, bassist Wolf Hassel, and drummer Ric Dowhan, who was later replaced by Rob Elliott. The group's breakthrough came with the 1982 song “When I'm with You”, which reached number 8 in Canada and number 61 in the United States in 1983, and was later re-released in late 1988, reaching Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1989. Sheriff released a self-titled album, Sheriff (1982), which included the Canadian Top 40 hit “You Remind Me” (1982). The band also issued a promotional live album, Sheriff Live (1983), before disbanding in 1985 due to internal tensions. Following the split, Lanni and Hassel formed Frozen Ghost, while Curci and DeMarchi eventually formed Alias.
